Prince Harry’s ‘bizarre language’ is ‘not going down well’ with ‘furious’ Palace, says royal expert

It may have been a while now since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's famous Oprah Winfrey interview, but royal correspondent Russell Myers says their relationship with the Royal Family is still "very very frosty."

Russell spoke to Australian TV about the Sussexes recent return to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Before they visited the UK, Harry had given an interview to NBC Today and used "bizarre language" according to Russell.

Referencing the interview, he said: "Harry was giving an interview just a couple of weeks ago when he was at the Invictus Games.

"It was all, sort of, bizarre language, he was there to protect the Queen and these things are not going down too well.

"If it [their relationship] is to be repaired, then there needs to be a bit more water under the bridge".

He added: "If Harry's looking for some, sort of, piecemeal then he was a long way off that.

"The people I speak to, the Palace every day, who [are] obviously very very well connected with the top players, as it were.

"They are still absolutely furious".

"You can't go on, you know, international television interview with Oprah Winfrey, complaining about your treatment with the family and then wanting to sit down with them when you're still giving interviews."

Author Duncan Larcombe of Prince Harry: The Inside Story, stated his belief that the couple are facing a final test with the Royal Family that will determine the future of their relationship with them.

"The test really begins now for Harry and Meghan,” Mr Larcombe told Closer magazine.

“They have come to the UK and to the Jubilee and really cemented themselves as royals again – which is great for their brand and something that Spotify, Netflix and Penguin will be eating up.

"But everything now depends on their behaviour moving forward. Clearly, an olive branch has been extended by the Royal Family here. Harry and Meghan would ruin that if any private information about this weekend was spoken to the press or revealed in a book.

"It’s last-chance saloon for them now. If anything from the weekend leaked, I imagine they will be totally cut off and that’ll be it."

The royal expert’s predictions come after it was reported that Harry was left “furious” after he and Meghan were “ignored” by brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton at the Platinum Jubilee service at St Paul’s on 3 June.

It was also reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge failed to attend Harry's daughter Lilibet’s first birthday celebration, after he and Meghan reportedly invited the royal couple.
