Queen’s Roger Taylor admits meeting Adam Lambert was ‘fate’
Queen legend Roger Taylor has thrown his support behind the striking NHS workers.
The drummer for the iconic band knows exactly how hard NHS staff work as his daughter Rory, 37, is a GP.
Speaking at the gala opening of We Will Rock You in London’s Colosseum the 73-year-old exclusively told Express.co.uk he “absolutely” supports the strikes.
When asked if he was behind the junior doctors and nurses striking for better pay, he responded: “Absolutely. The nurses especially. They’re not paid enough.”
The current junior doctors strike, which began today, is just the latest in series of protests by the lowest paid professionals in the NHS as they fight for better remuneration for their work.
Today’s walkout of up to 47,600 junior doctors who are members of the British Medical Association (BMA) will last until 7am on Saturday morning.
Nurses have also recently taken strike action in an attempt to be better compensated for their work.
In April RCN members rejected a government offer, which applied to England only, of a five percent pay rise for 2023-24 and a one-off payment of at least £1,655 to top up last year’s salary, depending on staff grade.
They walked out for 24 hours after the union announced its members had rejected the offer by 54 percent to 46 percent.
They had also walked out on 18 and 19 January and 6 and 7 February.

Union leaders have warned nurses are ready to walkout until Christmas to secure higher pay.
The Royal College of Nursing is also refusing to rule out joint industrial action with junior doctors that would push the health service to the brink during the busier winter months.
Like all medical professionals Rory worked throughout the pandemic.
Roger was so inspired by her that Queen, with Adam Lambert on vocals, rerecorded their hit song We Are the Champions as You Are the Champions, to raise money for the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organisation
At the time of the singles release in May 2020 he spoke to the Sunday Times Magazine about how proud he was of her.

“Of all my children, she has been perhaps the hardest working,” he said.
“She always applied herself and I’m so proud of what she does today.
“It’s not easy becoming a doctor. You have seven or eight years of basic training, constant exams, and it’s hard work, but Rory has dealt with it all very stoically…” he continued.
Rory’s mother is Roger’s first wife Dominique Beyrand and the former couple share another child, Felix, 43.
Roger also has three other children with former model Debbie Leng – Rufus, 32, Tiger Lily, 28, and Lola Daisy May.
