Following BBC presenter Arielle Free's suspension after an awkward exchange with her colleague, Charlie Hedges, her replacement has been revealed.
The Radio 1 presenter will be off the air this week following an incident that saw her criticise music during a live broadcast. Appearing briefly on Charlie’s Dance Anthems Ibiza show on Saturday (29 July), Arielle told the broadcaster: "Can I be honest with you?… I don't like this song… I hate it."
She continued and spoke about the lyrics of the track in question – My Barn, My Rules by Stream MCR-T & horsegiirL – but Charlie interjected and cut her off. She said: "Sorry, I'm taking your mic down. It's my show, Arielle, have some respect, please."
The flame haired Scottish DJ was on air for less than a minute. Sky News reports the star, who presents the early breakfast show, will be back on Radio 1 next week.
In the meantime, host Sian Eleri will step up to the helm and stand in for Arielle. It’s believed she will present Radio 1's Future Artists, as reported by The Sun.
OK! has approached Arielle’s reps for comment.
In a statement, BBC Radio 1 said: "Whilst we would not comment on individual matters, we have strict codes of behaviour for staff and presenters, and any breaches are taken extremely seriously."
Over the weekend, Arielle shared a string of images and videos from her time in Ibiza so far to her Instagram page. Captioning the carousel, she said: “SO HAPPY to be back at the incredible @unitedants
“One of my favourite parties on the island and playing there last summer was one of the most stand out unforgettable gigs. The sticks are fully loaded and I’m ready”.
Pictures show her playing to massive crowds and dancing, prior to her clash with Charlie. Arielle stepped into the limelight as a DJ and radio presenter, and also co-hosted the official Love Island podcast, Love Island: The Morning After for several years.
Earlier this year, the redhead raised a total of £561,667 for Comic Relief with her Red Nose Day cycling challenge.
The early breakfast host cycled for 50 hours across five cities in five days all while DJing, in what was dubbed the Tour de Dance.
After cycling through York, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester and Liverpool on a specially adapted 10-person bike with DJ decks, she completed the challenge on 9 March.
On 10 March, it was revealed the Scottish broadcaster had raised a total of £561,667 so far.
After crossing the finish line in Liverpool, Arielle was brought to tears and later joined an emotional Hope and North – who present the Radio 1 weekday drivetime slot – to discover how much she had raised so far.
