Robbie Coltrane’s daughter, Alice McMillan, 24, has paid a poignant tribute to her father following his death on Friday. The Harry Potter star died aged 72 in a hospital near his home in Larbert, Scotland, following several years of ill health.

On Saturday, Alice took to Instagram to honour her dad with an emotional photograph of them together.

Robbie could be seen sitting at home wearing his glasses as Alice leaned over him and kissed his forehead.

The actress, who starred in the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and The Souvenir, completed the post with a black love heart.

Robbie shared Alice and her brother Spencer, 30, with his ex-wife Rhona Gemmell.

The couple were married in 1999 but divorced in 2003.

Robbie’s agent, Belinda Wright, confirmed his death in a statement in which she described him as a “wonderful actor” who was “forensically intelligent and brilliantly witty”.

Robbie is understood to have been left relying on a wheelchair in the lead up to his death as he battled “constant pain”.

He opened up about his condition to Daily Express in 2020, saying: “I was fighting pain 24 hours a day when I was in National Treasure and Great Expectations.

“I had no cartilage in my knee. It was bone on bone. I’m in constant pain all day.”

Robbie suffered from severe osteoarthritis, which is the most common type of arthritis in the UK.

The father-of-two had recently planned to attend Comic-Con in July 2022, but had to cancel his appearance due to his ill health.

The event organisers told fans at the time: “It is with deep regret that Robbie Coltrane has to withdraw from the July Comic-Con due to his continuing ill health.

Robbie was also awarded an OBE from the Queen in 2006 for services to drama.

He said at the time: “Once you’ve been doing anything for 25 years people start to notice you.
