Robert Rinder was taken to hospital with a slipped disc just hours after presentingGood Morning Britain.
TheTV judge said “life can change in a moment” after suffering the surprise medical problem – which causes severe pain in the back.
The 44 year old had started Monday presenting ITV show GMB alongsideRanvir Singh. But a few hours later, he shared pictures of himself lying in hospital receiving treatment for the condition – which is also known as a prolapsed disc.
He posted on Twitter: “Started the day holding politicians to account on @GMB & interviewing Lulu & Richie Sambora… Finished it having a prolapsed disc in my back repaired & healed..
“Life can change in a moment.. Hold on to joy wherever you find it (thanks brilliant medical team).”
A prolapsed disc is when a soft cushion of tissue between the bones of the spine pushes out – and can be painful if it presses on nerves. It can cause lower back pain, numbness or tingling in the shoulders, back, arms, hands, legs or feet, neck pain, problems bending or straightening the back and muscle weakness.
It usually gets better slowly with rest, gentle exercise and painkillers.
Fans flooded Robert’s Twitter post with well wishes.
One wrote: “Speedy recovery Robert.”
Another posted: “Get well soon Rob.”
A third said: “Hope you're on the mend Robert.”
It comes after the TV judgewowed fans by showing off his amazing body transformation after completing a Portugal juice retreat. Robert shared a snap of his ultra-toned physique taken while he worked out at the gym.
Posting the image to social media, he wrote: "A week of juicing & 70km.. Now to making it last..!"
He added a quote by Napoleon Hill, which read: "The body achieves what the mind believes.”
Fans and celebrity pals alike were gobsmacked by the post with fellow GMB presenter Ben Shepherd commenting: "Looking ripped Rob."
BBC Radio Two's Sara Cox simply wrote: "Oh hello."
And his GMB co-host Kate Garraway said: "Crikey."
Carol Vorderman,Alison Hammond andDenise Welch also joined Rob at the retreat, known as Juicy Oasis, which is a week-long retreat, set in the valleys of the gorgeous mountains with a stunning view over a huge river.
It’s famed for its impressive alumni of celebrities who have lost weight – but it’s not cheap. A stay can cost anything from £1,550 to £5,000.
Last year,Carol revealed she had dropped a dress size in less than two weeks after attending the gruelling Juicy Oasis, where she walked a half marathon every single day.
Sports commentatorAlex Scott and Dragon’s Den Sarah Willingham also stayed at the retreat.
In December, Robert had tofight back tears on Good Morning Britain as he paid tribute to his beloved dog Rocco who had sadly passed away.
