Rylan Clark addresses engagement rumours after flashing sparkling ring in Venice

Rylan Clark was forced to address engagement rumours after fans spotted a rather large sparkling ring on what appeared to be his ring finger. The TV star, 34, posted a photo in Venice after jetting off to Italy.

Sharing some photos to his Instagram Story, Rylan shared that he was travelling to Italy, first posting a photo of a pair of suitcases, to which he added the text: "Buongiorno Italia." He followed this up with a second snap of Venice, in which his hand, and the ring, could be seen.

And it seems that Rylan must have been DMed by a number of confused fans, as he quickly returned to his Story, simply writing: "That's my right hand fyi."

Rylan has not publicly dated anyone since his split from ex-husband Dan Neal, after Rylan admitted that he had cheated on him years earlier in their relationship. Rylan later shared that after his marriage broke down it led to a "mental breakdown" and he has opened up on his attempt suicide during this difficult time.

In a podcast appearance earlier this year, Rylan shared that he's doing much better and is happy to be alive. Asked how he was feeling, he replied: "Brilliant. Really good. […] The clouds started to part when I realised that I hadn't lost something I thought I had."

The trip to Italy comes after he first jetted off to Greece after he announced earlier this month he would be taking a break from his job of presenting BBC Radio 2 for a "fair few weeks". And it has since been announced that Rylan will be pairing up with Judge Rob Rinder or a new BBC 2 travel show.

The new show will see the duo follow the path of the poet Lord Byron, marking 200 years since his death. And given that the poet spent a lot of time in Greece and Italy, it's thought that filming be currently underway.

Sharing his excitement about the show, Rylan said: "When I found out that Rob and I actually get to go travelling around Italy for the Grand Tour, I couldn't have packed my suitcase quicker. We're not going to be your typical Brits abroad though as we properly immerse ourselves in all of Italy's cultural offerings.

"Rob will be teaching me all about Italian history and art as we follow in the footsteps of the cultural greats, while I show Rob how to dance on bars. This series is going to be eye-opening, interesting, and I bet we'll have a laugh or two along the way."
