Rachel Stevens may be disqualified from driving after pleading guilty to two speeding offences.
The S Club 7 star was reportedly caught doing over 40mph on a 20mph road in September, to later make the same mistake on the same road in November.
Rachel, 45, and her first offence was due to be heard at Bromley magistrates yesterday, but this has been adjourned to Friday, 19 May, and moved to Willesden magistrates instead, according to court listings seen by OK!
The mum-of-two isn’t expected to attend court, however. She has pleaded guilty to both offences and now faces a possible driving ban.
According to the Evening Standard, Rachel was caught by police officers with speed guns. Her first offence was in a BMW X3 series, while the second was in a Mini Cooper.
The publication reported that police who commented on the star's second offence said they clocked the car at 42mph after noticing the vehicle “accelerating rapidly away”.
British drivers may be disqualified for six months if they get 12 or more penalty points within three years, or a year if they get a second disqualification within three years, according to gov.uk.
Meanwhile, a driver may be banned from getting behind the wheel for two years if they get a third disqualification within three years.
OK! has contacted Rachel’s representative for comment.
Policy and research director from road safety charity IAM RoadSmart Neil Greig has since called on people in the public to play their part in advocating road safety.
“We’d like to see a fundamental shift in attitudes towards speeding so that it becomes as socially unacceptable as drink and drug driving,” he told The Sun.
“Everyone in the public eye needs to play their part in this.”
The last 12 months have been undeniably difficult for Reach For The Stars hitmaker Rachel after she called time on her marriage to Alex Bourne last summer.
As well as this, S Club 7 were hit with heartbreak when their bandmate Paul Cattermole died unexpectedly at the age of 46 in April.
A joint statement issued by the band at the time read: “We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul.
“There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.
“He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time.”
Paul’s cause of death is yet to be revealed, but it’s been described as “not suspicious”.
