BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent has stunned fans after sharing her look for the red carpet of 2021’s Sports Personality of the Year Awards. The star, 50, was able to put on a glamorous display away from the show’s famous red sofa, and her followers were quick to praise her for the stunning snap. 

Sally posed in a figure-hugging navy blue dress with an elegant criss-cross neckline. 

The journalist accessorised the look with a wristwatch and a pair of shimmering droplet earrings.

She also opted for a subtle, smokey make-up look, professionally applied by make-up artist Grainne Frawley. 

The star simply captioned her post: “Ready. #Spoty2021”.

 

Fans were quick to flood the comments section with compliments ahead of the big event. 

The One Show’s Owain Wyn Evans and BBC Breakfast’s Josh Parry left heart and flame emojis, while singer Laura Wright commented: “Beautiful!” 

“You look stunning Sally!” wrote stylist Suzanne Delahunty. 

“Fabulous dress. You look amazing xx,” wrote Deborah Louise Lloyd.”

Matthewsherifan added: “Looking elegant here Sally. Hope you have a wonderful evening at the BBC Sport Personality of the Year in Salford this evening.”

Sally recently stepped up to become the new presenter of BBC Breakfast. 

The journalist, who has been a part of the show for nearly a decade as a sports presenter, took over from Louise Minchin, who recently left after 20 years on the show. 

Louise then went on to compete in this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

Meanwhile, Sally now sits beside co-presenter Dan Walker each week from Monday to Wednesday.

When the time came for her to take over, she told The Mirror: “I’m absolutely thrilled to become the new presenter of BBC Breakfast and bring the nation the latest news, top entertainment guests and stories that matter every week.”

Tonight, the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards celebrated and honoured all of Britain’s favourite and most impressive athletes. 

The Sport Personality of the Year winner is the sportsperson, judged by a public vote, to have achieved the most that year.

Tonight, six nominees have been shortlisted for this year’s main prize: Emma Raducanu, Raheem Stirling, Sarah Storey, Tom Daley, Adam Peaty and Tyson Fury.

Sally’s co-star Dan Walker recently competed against Olympian swimmer Adam in Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One. 

The athlete finished in ninth place, while the BBC Breakfast presenter finished in fifth.
