Sarah Ferguson congratulates daughter Eugenie on pregnancy news with sweet unseen pic

With the announcement that Princess Eugenie is expecting her second child with husband Jack Brooksbank, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York is set to become a grandmother for the third time.

The news was shared with the public through a statement from Buckingham Palace with Eugenie, 32, later sharing the exciting news to Instagram with a photo of her one-year-old son August kissing her baby bump.

Commenting on the post, Eugenie's mother Sarah Ferguson, known popularly as Fergie, wrote: "Granny heaven" followed by a red heart emoji.

Fergie, 63, then re-shared her daughter's post to her Instagram story, and then posted a sweet photo of grandson August splashing around in a muddy puddle.

The previously unseen snap saw the one year old sporting a yellow raincoat, paired with dark coloured trousers and shoes.

Captioning the post, Fergie wrote: "You will be sharing puddles, Augie! Superb news, Granny heaven…. So deeply grateful."

Fans and friends of the Duchess shared their own excitement and well-wishes, with romance publisher Mills And Boon, who have published a number of her books, wrote: "Wonderful news" followed by a red heart emoji.

While one fan commented: "Congratulations such wonderful news after the hard times of grieving. The late Queen send a little angel back to earth."

And a fan page for the York family added: "So happy for Eugenie, Jack and August, and of course for the Duke and you!"

Back in May 2022, Fergie opened up about her relationships with daughters Eugenie and Beatrice.

"I'm best friends with my children because I watched them be very good mothers. I love bringing them up the way I brought them up, which is their feet on the ground," she began.

"And I've always said, 'If you can't go out with a smile, then don't go out until you can smile. Because everyone's watching you, and they'll want you to be smiling.

"To be a good mother is to really listen, to have empathy, to shut the door on the world when… and turn the telephone off. I do the five points which are: 'Are you cross with me? Are you cross with your father? Are you angry with a friend at school or…' You go through the five points and then you're giving them time to open up to discuss.

"Mothering for me is my chief role. Good mothering means you never forget that you were once a teenager."

The happy news that she is set to become a grandmother again comes following a rather tough time for the Duchess, in the wake of the tragic death of her friend Lisa Marie Presley.

Fergie paid tribute to her late friend, or "sissy" as she affectionately called her, on her Instagram page, and later gave a speech at the musician's funeral.

In her emotional speech The Duchess of York quoted some famous words from her late former mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, as she said, "grief is the price we pay for love".
