Concerned for the ogre’s well being viewers of the show flocked to Twitter to ask the hosts if he was ok.
Meanwhile, other fans questioned if they had really seen fall over while someone else joked that they had rewinded the show to watch the moment again.
One person penned: ‘Howling at Shrek taking a tumble. we had to rewind for a second take!’

Last weekend, Saturday Night Takeaway fans were left fighting back tears as Ant performed sign language to two competition-winning deaf brothers.
The TV host and co-star Dec were in the audience of the ITV show giving out a ‘Place on the Plane’ to the show’s live final in Orlando, Florida to deserving audience members and viewers.
And Ant proved he was a conscientious host as he appeared to learn British Sign Language when telling brothers Tony and Tosin Kalejaiye that they’ve bagged themselves a spot on the plane thanks to their amazing fundraising.
Oh dear: Fans questioned if Shrek had been ‘on the happy juice’ while someone else joked that they had rewinded the show to watch the moment again
Approaching the shocked siblings in the crowd, Ant said: ‘Hi guys! Tony and Tosin were both born deaf.
‘They were fitted with cochlear implants at the age of two but they were determined to help others in the same situation.
‘They’ve been fundraising since they were just four years old and so far they’ve raised an incredible £25.000 to help other deaf children across the world. We think you’re incredible…’
He then added: ‘And you’ve got a place on the plane!’ with the star signing the last part of the sentence to the brothers.
