SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Sex scenes cause trauma, claims ‘future 007’ James Norton

Sex scenes used to be seen as a perk of the job for leading men, with James Bond star Sir Roger Moore admitting: ‘I always rather liked [them]; I felt we didn’t have enough of those, really.’

How times have changed. Now, James Norton, who’s being tipped as the next 007, has claimed that such scenes can cause ‘trauma’ and shouldn’t even be considered unless actors have been forewarned and agree to the specifics.

The 35-year-old teachers’ son, who appeared in BBC dramas War And Peace and McMafia, declares: ‘There’s so much potential for trauma.

‘Everyone’s sensitive about their naked body — so if you are going to have a sex scene, write ‘sex scene’, and have actors say what they’re comfortable with.’

It’s quite a statement from Norton, who first appeared naked at the start of his career in a film called Bonobo. He went on to strip off before diving into a river in the first scene of ITV’s Grantchester, in which he played vicar Sidney Chambers. And in the BBC thriller McMafia he was topless in most episodes.

However, Norton (pictured) praises the acclaimed BBC drama Normal People for showing the leading man, Paul Mescal, naked as often as his co-star, Daisy Edgar-Jones.

‘We’re so used to seeing female nudity that when you see a man, you go: ‘This is so explicit!’ But it’s just balanced.’

Norton, who’s going out with actress Imogen Poots, is the bookmakers’ favourite to take over from Daniel Craig, but declines to comment. ‘Pure speculation,’ he tells GQ magazine.

However, owing to three delays, Craig’s final 007 appearance, No Time To Die, has still not come out, so the world is no closer to knowing who will be next to fill Bond’s hand-made shoes.

‘Nothing’s changed,’ says Norton, now grinning.

Diego’s wedding made in Chelsea

Former Made In Chelsea star Diego Bivero-Volpe has exchanged vows with film-maker Charlotte Carroll in a marriage . . . made in Chelsea.

Diego, 37, and Charlotte, 36, held their wedding in a four-person ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall as soon as restrictions were eased.

‘The council called last minute to tell us we could get hitched — with just two brilliant friends agreeing to be witnesses,’ says Diego.

Of his wife’s pregnancy, he adds: ‘I cannot express how fortunate I feel to be starting a new chapter with Charlotte and the bump we’re expecting in a few weeks.’

Chopra is casting her own sunny spell

While the Duchess of Sussex quit Britain to start a new life with Prince Harry in California, her pal actress Priyanka Chopra is relishing life on this side of the Atlantic.

Chopra, 38, moved to West London this year with her husband, U.S. pop singer Nick Jonas, 28, to start filming her new Amazon drama series, Citadel, opposite Bodyguard star Richard Madden.

Enjoying the sunny spell, she shared a picture of herself yesterday jumping for joy in her garden while wearing a glorious yellow Emilio Pucci dress. ‘Sunshine hits differently these days,’ she muses.

Priyanka attended the royal wedding in 2018 and denied rumours she subsequently fell out with Meghan because the former Suits actress did not go to her wedding to Jonas seven months later in Jodhpur, India.

V&A Museum chairman Nicholas Coleridge has made such a startling recovery from his battle with Covid-19 that he’s going to do 30 sit-ups a day for the next 30 days in aid of the Sick Children’s Trust. ‘I have been doing them every day,’ he tells me. ‘Since I’ve been unable to go to a restaurant, I have slimmed down. Now one or two older pairs of trousers have come back into the repertoire.’

Myrie masterminds his growing fortune

He’s one of the BBC’s biggest stars, who’s just been handed the role of hosting Mastermind.

But now Clive Myrie will also be topping up his huge salary with a job for a commercial rival.

The newsreader, who was paid more than £215,000 a year even before he hosted Mastermind (worth possibly an additional £100,000), has been allowed to present a ‘landmark’ ten-part series for Jazz FM, owned by German giant Bauer Media Group.

Myrie, 56, has been a jazz fan since his teens in Lancashire, and says: ‘Being a part of this amazing project is a dream come true.’

Does Myrie hope a Mastermind contender will choose jazz as their _specialist subject? ‘I think they would probably know more than me,’ he tells me, modestly.

Aerial yoga’s really gone to Hirst’s head

Having sold a pill cabinet for £9.6 million and a pickled shark for £9.5 million, Damien Hirst is used to turning the art world on its head. Now, he’s trying to do the same to himself.

The 55-year-old artist has taken up aerial yoga — a favourite of Sir Mick Jagger and Gwyneth Paltrow — said to relieve joint pressure and tension, enhance core strength and release endorphins. His girlfriend, former ballerina Sophie Cannell, 26, filmed the Turner Prize winner strapped into an aerial rig and hanging upside down at his £40 million Regent’s Park home.

Damien has practised yoga three times a week for years, though admits he finds it ‘quite difficult to get into chakras and stuff like that’.

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall when the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, had an audience with the Queen on Tuesday.

The meeting, via phone, was the first time they’d spoken since Meghan told Oprah Winfrey that Welby had secretly married her and Harry in their back garden at Kensington Palace a few days before their wedding.

Buckingham Palace never comments on the Queen’s private meetings, and Welby has since clarified that such an act would have been a ‘serious criminal offence’.
