Selma Blair shares sweet moment with her service dog following MS diagnosis

Selma Blair was spotted sharing a sweet moment with her service dog Scout in Los Angeles, as the star was out for a stroll in the US city.

The Cruel Intentions actress lives with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and has had her pooch for a year now.

On Thursday 29 December, the duo's bond was clear as Selma was assisted by Scout on a trip to her favourite coffee shop, Alfred Coffee.

All smiles, the star looked relaxed as she relied on her English Red Fox Labrador Retriever pup to assist her whenever necessary on the journey.

The 50 year old Hollywood A-lister opted for blue jeans, a white sweater, denim shirt and black coat combo for the outing, and finished off her bundled-up look with a white beanie hat that featured red and blue stripes on the rim.

The actress then accessorised with a bottle green printed shoulder bag and comfy white trainers.

With her blonde cropped bob natural under her hat, Selma also went makeup-free for the day.

The star welcomed her dog Scout to the family in December 2021, after realising she would need extra help to move around.

Selma was diagnosed with MS in 2018, and received chemotherapy in 2019, and the gruelling treatments have required a lot of physical rehab.

Despite that, the actress appeared upbeat as she grinned and leaned down to share a kiss with her beloved dog on the outing.

Scout reciprocated the affection with his charge – giving her a lick on the nose.

Not just a companion for the star, Scout continues to assist Selma with various struggles, including coordination and balance.

The service dog also helps the actress with her stamina and the ability to keep going during their walks and outings together.

After a year and a half training together, Selma and Scout were officially told they had graduated the service dog training programme a year ago.

At the time, the actress explained what her pooch would be aiding her in.

"Scout helps me with some personal stumbling blocks and aids in my mobility," she said. "He is an English red fox lab and is very good at his job. He is very handsome, and friendly, but if you see me and Scout, and we are working (which he really always is, as am I) then give a smile but please don't approach.

"Distractions really set me back. I am building stamina and coordination with the aid of this special dog and training! I am so happy to have him," Selma continued. "And will share news with you as we evolve.

"If you see me down, do not worry. Scout has me covered. Literally actually. I send you all love and happy holidays!!!!" the actress added.
