Sharon Osbourne has made a tearful appearance on The Talk, after publicly defending her pal Piers Morgan following his Good Morning Britain exit. The GMB host walked off set during a heated debate with a co-star Alex Beresford and later quit the ITV programme, following his coverage of Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Piers has been accused of racism and sexism towards the Duchess of Sussex.
He has been very vocal with his opinion on Meghan and refused to believe that she’d struggled with her mental health, after speaking out about having suicidal thoughts.
Following his departure from the show, Sharon took to Twitter to show her support for the presenter.
“@piersmorgan I am with you. I stand by you.
“People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth,” she wrote online.
And now the wife of Ozzy Osbourne has broken down during an appearance on American television.
Sharon spoke about supporting Piers with her co-stars Sheryl Underwood and Elaine Welteroth.
“What would you say to people who may feel that while your standing by your friend, it appears that you give validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered, that is racist, even if you don’t agree?” Sheryl said to Sharon.
The mum-of-three responded that she didn’t understand what was racist about Piers’ comments.
She said that it wasn’t fair to accuse her of racism because of their friendship.

“I feel even like I’m about to be put in an electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is a racist, so that makes me a racist?” she said on the show.
“And for me at 68 years of age to have to turn around and say, ‘I ain’t racist’. What’s it got to do with me?
“How can I be racist about anybody? How can I be racist about anybody or anything in my life?”
A clearly upset Sharon asked her friend and co-star to explain the claims of racism.
“I will ask you again Cheryl, I’ve been asking you during the break. I’m asking you again, and don’t try and cry, cause if anyone should be crying it should be me.
“This is the situation, you tell me what you have heard him say, educate me, tell me when you have heard him say racist things.
“Educate me. Tell me,” she pleaded.
“It is not the exact words or racism, it’s the implication and reaction to it.
“To not want to address that because she is a black woman, and to try and dismiss it, or to try and make it seem less than what it is, that’s what makes it racist,” her co-host explained.
