Sophie Rundle bounces back from Covid-19

Married AND bouncing back from Covid – no wonder Sophie Rundle is looking so swell!… and will the star of Gentleman Jack and The Nest soon be welcoming a little fledgling?

Gentleman Jack star Sophie Rundle, pictured, has been pictured for the first time since recovering from Covid-19 talking a walk in London

After ending a tumultuous year in a hospital bed with Covid-19, Gentleman Jack star Sophie Rundle looks set to deliver a few surprises now that she’s back on her feet.

The star seemed in blooming health as she strolled in the winter chill last week with her partner Matt Stokoe – the first time the couple have been pictured sporting wedding bands, having never confirmed their marriage.

It was also the first time 32-year-old Sophie – who also starred alongside Martin Compston in The Nest, about a couple desperate for a baby – had been seen since falling severely ill with coronavirus.

And those who spotted the couple walking their retriever Buddy in London couldn’t help but wonder whether Sophie will be expecting a new cast member in the coming months, as she left her shirt unbuttoned to reveal a telltale bump.

Shielding herself from the cold in a black jacket and woollen beanie, Sophie paired an £80 pair of red Hunter wellies with her jeans. Husband Matt was also well insulated against the weather, and was tasked with keeping Buddy on a tight leash.

Despite revealing their engagement plans in 2019, the couple have yet to make an official announcement that they have tied the knot, and Sophie has seemed in no rush to start married life.

Soon after their engagement, she said: ‘The whole wedding thing is weird. Everyone expects you to be desperate to be a princess for the day – that’s not really my scene.’

Shortly before Christmas, the actress told her 250,000 Instagram followers that she had to go to hospital to be treated for Covid-19.

As she wished her fans a Merry Christmas, she added: ‘Greetings from my sick bed. So for Christmas this year I got myself a juicy bout of Covid-19. I also have a very festive bloodshot eye from all of the hardcore vomiting I was doing in hospital. I can taste nothing, I have a cough to rival a Dickensian workhouse orphan boy.’

She also told how she was suffering from a pain from a ‘gnarly’ wisdom tooth, saying it all added up to ‘quite the feast of festive ailments’.

It appears the couple have been sporting wedding bands – they first met on the set of Sky One drama Jamestown

Sophie and 32-year-old Matt, star of BBC period drama The Musketeers and Netflix series Cursed, have been together since 2016 – they met on the set of Sky One drama Jamestown. Since then, Sophie has barely been off our screens, with appearances in Bodyguard, Peaky Blinders and Sky’s Urban Myths, where she played Princess Diana.

She most recently starred alongside Matt in the claustrophobic horror film Rose: A Love Story, in which they played a couple living in a remote woodland cabin.

And before Covid laid her low, she was spotted filming the second series of Gentlemen Jack in West Yorkshire last month, alongside Suranne Jones.
