Steph McGovern, 38, and her partner welcomed their baby in late 2019. However, the star has now opened up in a revealing interview on Giovanni Fletcher’s podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby about the pregnancy.

Speaking to the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! winner, Steph admitted she wasn’t looking forward to being pregnant.

Giovanni asked the Packed Lunch presenter: “Was it hard deciding who would carry the baby?”

Steph replied: “No, no. It was always going to be me.

“In fact, I think actually it’s funny isn’t it, because that’s the bit I didn’t want to do.

“I actually thought, ‘I’m not fussed about being pregnant’”.

However, while she initially wasn’t looking forward to this part of having a baby, she explained she grew to love it.

Although there was an incident with morning sickness which has damaged her view of a certain supermarket brand.

She continued: “Then when I was I actually – apart from the morning sickness, that was horrendous and I still can’t look at the Co-op logo because I once threw up in the vegetable aisle.

“And it’s really awkward because a new Co-op opened on our street and I was like ‘I can’t even look at it.’

“So that was horrendous but then after that, I felt really fit because I wasn’t drinking.

“And I thought I would hate it and I did hate it but I got used to it and then I was just so fit.”

The former BBC Breakfast presenter gave birth to her daughter in November 2019.

“Born on Monday morning just as @BBCBreakfast was wrapping up.

“We’re all fine and dandy. Just getting used to the eau de sick/poo I am now regularly wearing. #babylife.”

The star is now best known for her weekday lunchtime show Steph’s Packed Lunch.

Airing on Channel 4 every weekday, this sees Steph alongside hosts like Chris Kamara and Michael Portillo.

Steph also generally keeps her relationship and family life out of the public eye.

However, she sometimes posts on her Instagram about those closest to her.

Back on March 8, she penned a tribute to her mum sharing an image of them when they were younger.

She wrote: “Me and my mam who worked for the NHS for over 40 years and is now a fab grandma to my little girl. Happy #internationalwomensday”.
