AJ Odudu announced last week how she won’t be appearing on the Strictly Come Dancing tour as she’s still struggling with injury. EastEnders star and former finalist Maisie Smith has taken her place in the nationwide tour.
Kai posted an update to his Instagram followers as the pair had their first day in the studio.
This saw Maisie and Kai beaming in a mirror selfie in their workout gear.
Alongside this, Kai wrote: “Rehearsals for the @strictlycomedancinglive tour are well under way @maisiesmithofficial.” (sic)
AJ was among the first to react to the new pic as she sent her well wishes to the pair.
She wrote: “Go team” alongside a fist bump and explosion emoji.
Maisie also reacted to the photo as she penned: “Absolute scenes.
“P.s no you can’t have my coat.”
AJ shared a statement on her Instagram account last Thursday about her injury.
She appeared in a video, admitting it was against medical advice for her to perform.
She wrote to her fans: “Following medical advice, sadly I’ve had to withdraw from the @strictlycomedancinglive due to injury.
“I had hoped for one last dance with @kaiwidd & we were both so looking forward to finally showing you our (unseen) show dance, but it turns out I can’t go straight from wearing a medical moonboot to performing in 37 shows in 3 inch heels. Who knew?!
“The good news is, Kai and the rest of my Strictly fam will be setting the stage on fire and I can’t wait to go cheer them all on.”
Later that day it was also confirmed that Maisie would be taking her place and performing.
When the news was announced last week, Maisie said she was “so excited”.
The actress penned on her Instagram: “So excited to be a part of the @bbcstrictly team again on this years arena tour – dancing with the wonderful @kaiwidd. (sic)
“I wish @ajodudu a speedy recovery.”
AJ replied in the comments below: “Thank you @maisiesmithofficial.
“You’re gonna have the best time with Kai.”
The Strictly 2022 tour kicks off this month as it heads around the country.
It will culminate in four shows at London’s O2 Arena at the end of February.
