Strictly Come Dancing star Giovani Pernice was overcome with gratitude and excitement after winning the show with partner Rose Ayling-Ellis for the first time on Saturday since he joined as a professional seven years ago.
It appears the 31-year-old wasn't the only one left emotional either, as he shared on Sunday night a video of his parents’ elated reactions as they watched their son be announced as Strictly champion from their home in Sicily, Italy.
Giovanni’s mum and dad can be seen in the clip jumping for joy and hugging each other as Tess Daly called Giovanni and Rose's names, showing just how proud along they were along with other members of the family that cheered on in the background.
“When you think it can’t get more emotional…” Giovanni captioned the clip. “Look at mum and dad…”
Giovanni and Rose competed against The Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite and partner Johannes Radebe in Saturday’s final and were favourite to take home the Strictly trophy after contestant AJ Odudu was forced to quit following a foot injury.
Immediately after winning the show, Giovanni showered his partner Rose with praise as he reflected on their time together on the BBC dancing series.
"Thank you to this beautiful young lady who made all of my dreams come true,” he said, to which Rose responded: "You are so amazing, you pushed me to believe in myself. I just want you to know you've always got a place in my heart."
The pair danced to Clean Bandit’s Symphony during Saturday’s final show, as they performed their audience-favourite routine that included a silent dance break, highlighting Rose’s skills as a deaf contestant.
Ahead of the big night, the 27-year-old discussed her and Giovanni’s decision to execute the dance – which they performed for the first time last month – once again.
“That dance changed my life. So, I'm going to give it everything I’ve got,” Rose said.
“I want to enjoy it because it’s my last Saturday night ever – I just want to thank the public for keeping me in and believing in me.”
“It was such a big moment it would be weird for us not to do it,” Giovanni added.
“Obviously the signing moment was so powerful and because this got so much attention.
“It’s just fair to do it again – it’s the right thing to do. But for us Saturday night is a celebration – we’re in the final, we made it all the way, then que sera sera.”
