Over the weekend, Helen Skelton, 39, wowed both the judges and audience as she made her debut on Strictly Come Dancing. The lovable presenter took to the dancefloor alongside her professional partner, Gorka Marquez, 32, and performed a beautiful American Smooth to Sam Cooke’s You Send Me.

Helen managed to impress the judges and was awarded a respectable score of 26, which placed her in the middle of the leaderboard.

Already, bookies have named the BBC star as one of the hot favourites to take home the coveted Glitterball trophy at the end of the series.

However, despite the glitz and glamour we may see on Saturday nights, Helen devotes the majority of her attention to her three young children: Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and nine-month-old Elsie.

She shares her little ones with her husband, rugby player Richie Myler.

After marrying in 2013, the pair called their relationship quits earlier this year and Richie has since moved on with his new girlfriend, Stephanie Thirkill.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Helen opened up about how she is navigating life at home with her three children while balancing her numerous work commitments.

She said: “That’s just parenting, you are trying to split yourself in a million different ways.

“Someone said to me, one is like having a baby, two is like having a farm and three is like having a zoo; and I know what they mean!

“It’s good though, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am very lucky that my boys love their little sister.”

As well as competing in Strictly Come Dancing and taking on the gruelling training sessions, Helen is also continuing her numerous presenting gigs including her BBC Radio 5 Live show every Sunday.

When asked how she is able to balance it all, Helen said: “I think that when you are blessed with a family that you like spending time with and you are blessed with a job that you enjoy and find interesting, you just, I’m no different to any working mum.

“I think the trick is probably having lists everywhere and not feeling guilty about stuff. But it would be wrong of me to even answer that question because everyone’s life is different.

“I never want to be that person who is like, ‘This is how you do it’, because I don’t get it right most of the time.

“I think you just try your best and that’s all anyone can do.”

On Saturday, Helen and Gorka will return to the Strictly ballroom in the hopes of wowing the judges once again.

So far, Helen is the second favourite to win with odds of 4-1.

According to bookmaker William Hill, actor Will Mellor is the firm favourite to win as his odds have been slashed from 5-1 to 6-4.

It is also looking like former football star Tony Adams could be in danger to be the first act out as his odds to win sit at the bottom of the pile at 100-1.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One at 6.30pm on Saturday.
