Susanna Reid, 60, took to social media this morning to congratulate two of her Good Morning Britain colleagues – past and present – following an announcement online. The television presenter praised her former co-host Piers Morgan on his successful 12-year run on talk show Life Stories and congratulated his replacement.
Kate Garraway, 54, will be a guest on the show, before taking over when he leaves.
Piers said it had been “a blast” presenting the programme, which he fronted for 100 episodes.
He is bidding farewell to the series because he is leaving ITV after landing a new job with another network.
The 56-year-old television star signed a contract with News Corp to front brand new channel talkTV.
Piers announced the news that he would be quitting the show online last night.
The broadcaster tweeted: “BREAKING NEWS: I’m quitting Life Stories after 12 years and 100 shows.
“My final one will be with my fabulous friend @kategarraway and she will then present the remaining 3 planned shows of the next series as I leave ITV to host my new global daily show.
“It’s been a blast!” he signed off, in view of his eight million followers.
“Congratulations on a terrific run – and huge congratulations to @kategarraway who will be superb,” Susanna replied, when she shared the tweet on her own account, along with a clapping emoji.
Piers and Susanna co-hosted GMB together for almost six years before the father-of-four’s departure earlier this year.
She continues to front the breakfast show with a rotation of guests including Richard Madeley, Alastair Campbell and of course Kate.
“Good luck Piers on your new venture looking forward to it. Sorry you’re going though. I have loved Life Stories,” Twitter user @vivhowell wrote in the comment section of the post.
“Well done Piers and thank you. We as a family miss you on GMB,” user Mstocken added.
The former newspaper editor revealed the details of his new job back in September following months of speculation.
He will front a new news show along with a True Crime series.
At the time, he told fans: “I’ve gone home. Great to be rejoining Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation after 28 years.
“The place I started my media career, with the boss who gave me my first big break.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun…”
During his time on Life Stories, Piers interviewed a host of famous faces including Dame Joan Collins, Sir Keir Starmer, Lord Sugar, Michael Parkinson and Donald Trump, to name a few.
