Sydney Sweeney is full of surprises. Yes, she’s been cast in some of the biggest TV shows around, e.g The Handmaid’s Tale and Euphoria, but acting is just the tip of the iceberg for her. Sweeney is a sports aficionado and a lover of cars. In fact, she has become well-known on TikTok for rebuilding vintage cars. And Sweeney is also a businesswoman as well. At 24, she has her own production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, which promises to highlight female-led stories.
Sydney Sweeney has found early success with her production company
A self-proclaimed nerd, Sweeney has always been interested in the business side of the entertainment industry. She’s currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business and is even considering studying law in the future. When the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic caused Euphoria to go hiatus, Sweeney used the downtime to launch her production company.
It wasn’t long after Sweeney launched Fifty-Fifty Films that she had her first project underway. She successfully sold her TV show, The Players Table, to HBO. In addition to producing, the Washington native will also star in the show alongside her good friend, Halsey. But Sweeney is just getting started. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, she revealed that she’s got plenty of other production projects in the works also.
What projects does Fifty-Fifty Films have underway aside from ‘The Players Table’?
“I sold a movie,” Sweeney revealed. “I may or may not have adapted a book as a screenplay. I have about seven different books that I have the rights to.” But despite all the work Sweeney has done, she shares that people don’t often take her seriously when she goes into pitch meetings. In an interview with Elle UK, The White Lotus alum shared that she’s often underestimated thanks to her appearance.
Sweeney reveals she frequently shocks people who underestimate her
“In the first five minutes of each meeting, I can see everyone is expecting me to be some dumb blonde girl who doesn’t know what she’s doing,” Sweeney explained. “But I always leave them shocked and impressed.” Part of the reason that Sweeney is able to impress people is because of the sheer amount of research she puts into everything. She takes a meticulous approach to her acting process and that attention to detail extends to her production company as well.
“I put a lot of work into what I do,” she shared with Teen Vogue. “I would never want to have my name or company just slapped on something because I want it slapped on. I will be doing the heavy lifting.” We’re sure Sweeney’s fans are eager to see what Sweeney and her production company sink their teeth into next. For now, the actor is busy shooting the movie National Anthem. However, given Sweeney’s ability to multitask, who knows what she has up her sleeves.
