Both of the stars of Supernatural have pilot orders as producers this upcoming season – Jensen Ackles with his Supernatural prequel, The Winchesters, and Jared Padelecki with the Walker prequel, Walker: Independence.
Gotham Knights comes from the team behind Batwoman, but will not be a spinoff of that series. There’s also another DC Comics series in the works.
Also getting a boost is a female led Zorro reboot, which has received an order for six more scripts, brining it’s total to seven, according to Deadline.
The Zorro reboot follows “a young Latinx woman seeking vengeance for her father’s murder joins a secret society and adopts the outlaw persona of Zorro.”
It’s likely that if CW execs are pleased with the scripts, it could get a straight-to-series order.
Pilot orders don’t necessarily mean that the shows will be picked up for sure, but with The CW expanding their primetime airing schedule to seven days a week, there’s some room for a few new projects.
The CW has not officially renewed any current shows YET, but announcements could be made within the next couple of months.
If you missed it, this series is likely to get another season as the star of the show has reportedly been working to negotiate a contract to return.
