The many faces of Adele

The many faces of Adele: How the songstress went from fresh-faced Tottenham teen to Hollywood glamazon after 7st weight loss and a vow to never have plastic surgery

Her rise to fame has been nothing short of stratospheric – with record sales over 100million and an award cabinet heaving with coveted gongs.

And while Adele’s musical star has risen, so has her look – as she has fully embraced a Hollywood ‘glow-up’ since releasing her debut single in 2008 aged 19.

Born Adele Laurie Blue Adkin, the star hails from humble beginnings in Tottenham however moved around London in her youth and as her career took off she moved to ‘La La Land’, where she took on the city’s clean living, super-polished lifestyle.

In 2015, she made her feelings on surgical enhancements very clear saying: ‘I don’t want to have plastic surgery. I’m going to look like this forever. Deal with it. Once you deal with it, you feel more calm about it.’

After shedding 7st and transforming her beauty regimen, Adele has undergone an image transformation like no other in recent years.

In her career beginnings, the star went for extremely pared-back styles however as she became more established she adopted a trademark Sixties style look – complete with thick cat-eye eyeliner and voluminous beehive.

The look – which became synonymous with the star – disappeared in 2020 however, when she returned to the limelight with a dramatic image overhaul – having shed a whopping 7st and adopted a whole new style to boot.

Gone was her beehive and eyeliner, as the ever-evolving face of Adele was now complete with dewy make-up, a plump, overlined pout and honey-coloured hair worn in sleek and bouncy waves or an eyewateringly tight ponytail.

While Adele remains tight-lipped about her beauty regimen, she made her opinion on filters clear when she was performing during her Vegas residency and a fan snapped a selfie of the duo with a filter in place.

Adele gasped: ‘Is that a filter on there? What have you done to my face? Why are you having filters like that — we don’t look like that, darling.’
