The Repair Shop star reveals heartbreaking loss of husband to throat cancer

The Repair Shop star Suzie Fletcher has opened up and revealed her heartbreaking loss of her husband as she appeared on Tuesday’s This Morning to chat about her new book.

Suzie sadly lost her husband due to throat cancer in 2013 and said it was her co-star Jay Blades who helped her relive her memories of him when writing her book.

The book is called The Sun Over The Mountains: A Story of Hope, Healing and Restoration and was published this month.

During her chat with Holly Willoughby and Josie Gibson on This Morning, Holly said: “There were so many stories in the book and so many different things, lots of very personal stories and there are lots of very painful stories in there and you do touch on the loss of your husband.

"He had throat cancer and sadly passed away and that was a very difficult time for you but quite often what these books do is just the process of writing them, you revisit those times, but in a way that you can kind of reprocess it and understand it a little bit more and you found that quite healing."

The Repair Shop star agreed and said it “unlocked so many memories” that she thought she had closed down and now she has come out the other side she is “feeling much like” her old self.

She said: “I just took myself off to America on a whim and you know, life is just rocking and rolling and it's just amazing and I feel very happy and content. So it was great."

Speaking about her time and experience working on The Repair Shop, the star said: “Honestly it doesn't get any better than this. I mean I go to work so happy. The group down there are amazing both in front and behind the camera.

"Had it not been for that fateful day my brother said to me, 'I'm on this programme, do you want to join me?' and I went, 'No'.

"But anyway, they persuaded me and here I am."
