The Simpsons set to bring back iconic character from season one – 33 YEARS after his first appearance
The Simpson are set to bring back an iconic character from season one – 33 years after their first appearance.
The long-running American cartoon first introduced the character Jacques way back in the 1990 episode called Life On the Fast Lane.
Jacques, voiced by comedian Albert Brooks, was a French bowling enthusiast who almost bowled over Marge with his charm.
The episode saw a selfish Homer by Marge a bowling ball for her birthday and to his surprise, she headed to the bowling alley to use it.
There, she met Jacques and although she was initially won over by his advances, she resisted the urge to cheat on her husband.

And now, 33 years later, the character is set to enter The Simpsons’ lives again in the new episode, titled Pin Gal, which airs on Sunday 19 March.
The official synopsis for the episode reads: ‘A mysterious figure from Marge’s past returns to coach her for a bowling tournament.’
Will Marge and Homer’s marriage be able to survive the reappearance of Jacques?
Showrunner Al Jean confirmed the exciting news in a Twitter post earlier this week, with Jacques once again being voiced by Albert.
Al penned: ‘Don’t nap on new episode Sunday. Pin Gal with the return of Jacques!’
Jacques has since appeared in a number of non-speaking appearances, but this is the first time in over 30 years that he’ll be voiced.
And while fans are no doubt excited by the return of Albert Brooks to the iconic animated sitcom, it’s not the first time he’s voiced a character.
Albert is also the man behind the voice of Hank Scorpio, who appeared in a season eight episode called You Only Move Twice.

It comes after last month, Lizzo revealed that she would be a guest star in the upcoming season 34 finale of The Simpsons.

The drawing, done up in the long-running comedy’s style, showed the songstress in a low-cut blue crop top and matching blue leggings.
She also sported razor-sharp claw-like nails and bright white sneakers, and her hair was styled down in thick curls with a head band.
‘SEE YOU IN SPRINGFIELD, B****,’ she captioned her post.
She also included the shot in her Instagram Stories, captioning it: ‘LIZZO 🤝 SIMPSONS.’
But the cartoon version of Lizzo is apparently only one of two characters she will be playing on the season finale, which is scheduled to air on Fox on May 14.
Entertainment Weekly shared the other image of a tiny green elf, which the Truth Hurts singer will also be voicing.

Double duty: Lizzo — a huge Simpsons fan — will also voice a tiny green elf, according to Entertainment Weekly (pictured in February)
Both images featured Simpsons creator Matt Groening’s signature, suggesting that he drew or designed the characters.
According to the publication, the episode, titled Homer’s Adventure Through The Windshield Glass, will take place within just a few seconds as the title character is ejected through the windshield of his car after it crashes.
‘We had this idea for a long time, and it always felt like a pipe dream, but then we figured out a way to do it,’ executive producer Tim Long told EW. ‘Then the issue from a story point of view is: “Who is he going to talk to?” We thought, “Well, his incredibly messy car is going to be filled with children’s toys and stuff.” So [Lizzo is] playing this happy little elf doll that comes to life and becomes his spirit guide.’
The Simpsons’ producers had reportedly learned that Lizzo was a longtime fan of their series, and she jumped at the opportunity to be a guest on the show.

Sweet: Lizzo — who dressed up as Marge Simpson for Halloween — was starstruck by Homer actor Dan Castellaneta, who recorded his lines with her
Her Simpsons fandom hasn’t exactly been a secret, as the flute player previously covered herself in yellow body paint to transform into Marge Simpson for Halloween.
Lizzo will get to show off her talents when she performs a new song, which features lyrics by Long — who penned the episode — and music by Flight Of The Conchords star Bret McKenzie.
‘The song is called, “It Was Marge, B****,” and the b**** in question is Homer,’ Long continued. ‘I can’t give you too much context without giving you too much story, but it is really in her wheelhouse — and she sang the hell out of it.’
According to Long, the episode opens with Home being ‘furious about something’ that is initially unexplained. ‘And as he’s flying through the air and he is talking to this little doll, we find out that he’s incredibly furious with Marge because she’s been hiding a secret from him.’
