The Prince and Princess of Wales have access to four homes across the UK – but just like everyone else they can't resist a tropical getaway from time to time.
Some of their favourite destinations over the years have included relaxing in the sun, seeing ancient sights in Jordan or hitting the slopes in The Alps.
While the couple now opt to spend many of their holidays in the UK, the couple previously had a reputation for jetting off around the world several times a year – much to the late Queen's distaste.
There is one Caribbean island located just south of St Vincent and the Grenadines that is a particular favourite of Prince William and Kate.
The idyllic holiday spot has long associations with the late Queen's sister, Princess Margaret, who had her own home on the island.
The couple's fondness for exotic holidays reportedly wasn't pleasing for the late monarch and she was said to have wished that Kate would settle in a job before any announcement of their engagement was made.
In her 2010 book, 'William and Harry', Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl said: “If she was not with William at Balmoral then the couple were skiing or holidaying on Mustique.
"Kate was there so often the press dubbed her ‘Queen of Mustique’, a title that had previously belonged to Princess Margaret.”
Since marrying and having children, William and Kate have spent time in Mustique again. Prince George was spotted being carried off the plane by his mother for a trip to the exotic villa which was once owned by Princess Margaret.
The late Countess of Snowdon was given her home – ‘Les Jolies Eaux’ – by her friend and former lady-in-waiting, Lady Anne Glenconner and her husband, Baron Glenconner.
While the couple have previously been spotted hitting the slopes during trips to the French Alps, they have been enjoying an increasing number of staycations – a trend that they are expected to continue.
Given their important roles, it is thought that the family of five will spend most summers in the UK in the future, much in the same way that the King spends time away in Scotland and Gloucestershire.
As well as Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, Kensington Palace in London and Tam-Na-Ghar in Balmoral, the couple call Anmer Hall in Norfolk home. Katie added: “Summer holidays at Anmer are the perfect way for Kate and William to decompress."
