Though Blake Shelton is leaving The Voice next year, there’s gossip that his wife Gwen Stefani is already asking him to walk away from one of his show connections — namely, former Voice coach Adam Levine.
On September 19, The Voice returned to NBC with season 22 featuring Blake, Gwen, John Legend and newcomer Camila Cabello as coaches. But hours before the premiere, a TikTok was posted by Instagram model Sumner Stroh in which she detailed an alleged yearlong affair with Adam, who has been married to Behati Prinsloo since 2014. Shortly after, the Maroon 5 frontman released a statement on Instagram denying the affair but taking “full responsibility” for using “poor judgment” and “crossing the line.” Per several reports, more women have since come forward claiming to have received inappropriate messages from Adam.
The news sparked many responses from fans and celebrities on the internet. Though it seems like Blake and Gwen haven’t commented on the scandal publicly, sources have apparently told RadarOnline.com that a conversation happened between the married couple about Adam. According to the outlet, Gwen reportedly told Blake to “cut ties” and “distance himself” from the “Girls Like You” singer.
On October 13, RadarOnline.com reported that the situation was particularly difficult for Gwen because she experienced a similar instance when her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale had an alleged affair in 2015. The “Hollaback Girl” vocalist is said to be “friendly” with Behati.
“For her, it’s personal,” the source told the site. “She isn’t worried about Adam being a bad influence [on Blake]; this is about principle.”
What’s more, RadarOnline.com previously reported that Blake and Adam’s friendship hasn’t been the same since the “Cold” vocalist left The Voice. The two starred alongside each other from 2011 to 2019 for seasons 1-16. “They haven’t spoken in a while. There was no big dramatic falling out, but they both just moved on,” a different source told the publication. “It happens all the time with work relationships.”
To be clear, these rumors haven’t been confirmed. And while it’s unknown whether what these sources are claiming is true, it seems like Blake and Adam have kept the status of their friendship mostly under wraps recently. What we do know, however, is that when Blake and Gwen tied the knot in July of last year, Adam wasn’t invited to their big day. But this seems to be more because the couple wanted to keep their wedding as intimate as possible.
“So I’ve had awkward conversations with, with so many of my friends since [the wedding] it’s ‘Oh, oh yeah. I read y’all. Yeah, I read about that. How was that?’” Blake explained on SiriusXM’s The Storme Warren Show last summer. “You know, I was like, ‘Listen, you know, we kept it small, get over it, you know, it’s not about you.'”
Then again, Blake did explicitly (and jokingly) reveal that he didn’t want Adam at their ceremony because his former Voice co-star straight-up told Ellen DeGeneres that he didn’t “support their marriage” and planned to object at the ceremony (to be clear, Adam was joking).
“Purposely, [I] did not invite Adam Levine to my wedding, and I think it’s funny,” Blake later said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
