Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger, 78, moaned about the various female fans from the UK, some of whom apparently wanted to sleep with members of the band when they shot to fame in 1963. The Sympathy For The Devil singer added that he had a preference for American groupies because they were “much younger” and “very clean”.

Mick’s unsavoury comments were made back in 1974 but were then republished by rock magazine Uncut in a special on drummer Charlie Watts, who died aged 80 last August.

The rocker, who is said to have slept with approximately 4,000 women, didn’t hold back as he went on a shocking tirade against his fans from the north, who were deemed to be “dreadful”.

When asked about his early groupies, he said: “Great ugly ones – dreadful Northern ones with long black hair, plastic boots and macs. Ugh.

“Thankfully, the girls are much prettier now than they were then. Hey, do you remember when girls nearly always seemed to have backcombed hair? I didn’t like them,” he continued brashly.

“I used to go for the type with the straight black hair, usually dyed. Oh God, they were so ugly.

“In the States, the girls were pretty good. Much younger and very clean. Not quite so rainy, not such a rainy day.”

The star went on to claim that he hated the wives of other rock stars, branding them “appalling failures”.

Mick, who was once married to Bianca Jagger from 1971 to 1978, said of rock ’n’ roll wives: “I hate ’em. All of ’em, unless they’re talented – which few of them are.

“Fortunately, there’s only a couple of ’em around, but honestly… I don’t know how they have the nerve to continue in the face of their appalling failure.”

Despite being married to Bianca at the time of the interview, Mick claimed that it was better for musicians to “not be with anybody” because “domesticity is death”.

He also added that he differed from stars like the late David Bowie, who “spend a long time at home with their old ladies and families”.

Mick and Bianca didn’t have the most conventional marriage, and it has been widely reported that both spouses strayed during their seven-year union.

In 1973, it was revealed that Bianca had an affair with actor Ryan O’Neal, while Mick was constantly surrounded by women and fangirls.

She told People in 1977, “In the first years of our marriage, I played the wife. I was docile and subservient…but groupies weren’t an easy thing to get used to.

“I have had very few affairs. I could never have one without telling Mick.”

In 1978 Bianca filed for divorce from Mick on the grounds of adultery, as Mick had been having a long-time affair with model Jerry Hall, with whom he went on to have four children.

Mick also reportedly had an affair with then-Playboy model Bebe Buell between 1974 and 1976.

The rock star has had eight children in total with five different women and is now a great-grandfather.

Mick is currently in a relationship with American ballet dancer Melanie Hamrick.

Melanie, 35, gave birth to their son Deveraux on December 8, 2016, when Mick was 73 years old.
