Tom Fletcher, 36, said his fellow McFly member was “very competitive” so wasn’t sure if he’d give him legit advice about how to win the show. Harry Judd, 35, lifted the Glitterball trophy with Aliona Vilani back in 2011. This year, his band mate signed up for the show in the hope of following in his footsteps.

Ahead of competing however, the father-of-three explained why he was hesitant about taking any advice from the former winner.

He told press: “I haven’t been able to stop him talking about Strictly for 10 years.

“But, I don’t know whether I should trust his advice or if he is trying to secretly steer me in the wrong direction because he’s quite competitive.”

He continued: “I’ve always felt like there’d be pressure if I ever did Strictly. It’s been a part of our history. It was an amazing time for our band when he won, so it has been his thing for a while.

“I feel like there will be pressure for me to go far.”

Coincidently, former winner Harry witnessed his pal leave the competition tonight after supporting him in the audience.

Tom and Amy Dowden missed out on making it through to week 10 after a dance off with Rhys Stevenson and Nancy Xu.

The dancing duo performed a Couple’s Choice routine to On My Own from Les Misérables.

Judges Cynthia Erivo, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke awarded the pair 31 out of 40 points.

Amy said of their exit tonight: “I really wasn’t ready for this. I’ve loved every single second from the bottom of my heart. Who gets to say they got to go on tour with McFly?!

“Tom has given his all, and he is so humble, so genuine, so talented.

“The whole Fletcher family, they welcomed me in with opened arms and honestly I couldn’t have wished for a better time.

“These memories are going to live with me for the rest of my life, and I’m telling you this now, the Fletchers are not getting rid of Amy.”

Tom responded: “Amy you’ve made it so amazing, so much fun. I thought I’d enjoy it but I didn’t think I’d enjoy it this much.

“This was the week I wanted to get to so I’m so glad that I got here.

“I’m so proud of the journey. So, thank you so much Amy.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues next Saturday at 6.55pm on BBC One.
