Kelsey Parker described her apprehension of walking the red carpet alone for the first time without her late husband, Tom Parker. A documentary from The Wanted star, who tragically passed away from brain cancer earlier this year, is nominated for an NTA award.

Kelsey took to Instagram today to share her fears in view of her 357,000 followers.

“Hi everyone,” she began. “I don’t know what is wrong with me this morning but I’m literally so emotional.

“I just, I don’t know why I did it this morning but I sat there and I looked through all of Tom’s reels.

“I don’t know why I just did that to myself and literally I am an emotional wreck this morning.

“And I just can’t stop crying… I’m trying not to cry now,” Kelsey added as her voice shook.

“I just think that obviously with the NTAs today and, even with it being postponed, I think this has been a long time coming and I just feel really overwhelmed by everything.

“And I feel overwhelmed that I have to walk the red carpet on my own. This is the first time I’m doing this without him,” she explained, referring to her late husband Tom.

“I just think it’s the build up to everything and the day has come and whether we win or we don’t win, I am so proud of how far we’ve come,” she concluded.

The documentary Tom Parker: Inside My Head follows Tom as he and his family come to terms with his brain tumour diagnosis and the singer arranges a star-studded charity concert.

Kelsey also shared a video of Tom speaking to Capital Breakfast’s Roman Kemp about the importance of making the most out of every day.

The late star told the DJ: “We all get taken away with every day and we don’t really have a moment to just sit there and appreciate what we’ve got.

“And I think that’s the one thing I’ve actually learned from this journey,” he added in reference to his cancer battle.

“This is what I’m taking with me today. Missing you so much,” she added with heart emojis.

Tom died in March this year at the age of 33 after previously being diagnosed with a brain tumour back in 2020.

He is survived by Kelsey and their children Aurelia, three and Bodhi, two.

Tom was a part of the popular British boyband The Wanted, who were known for hit songs like All Time Low and Glad You Came.

Other members of the group include Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes.

When the group reunited in 2021, Tom was able to perform on select nights of the Wanted’s tour of UK arenas shortly before his death.

Tonight, Tom Parker: Inside My Head is in the running for Best Documentary, along with Julia Bradbury: Breast Cancer and Me, Kate Garraway: Caring for Derek, Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next and Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism.

The National Television Awards will air tonight at 8pm on ITV.
