‘It’s been a day of distance but equally a day of great closeness. Things may not turn out how you want them to be but they turn out to be as equally joyful

‘I want to say how much this year has meant to me, for all of us to be in this together and all be able to communicate on this platform.’

Last month Trinny revealed she was recovering from COVID-19 after spending Christmas looking after loved ones who had the virus.

The presenter revealed she’d had a difficult start to 2021 after spending several days confined to her bed ‘feeling horrible.’

Before and after: Although Trinny’s daughter Lyla, 17, was originally wearing a patterned face covering at the start of the clip, she pulled it down and off her face as she and her mother chatted

Trinny went onto share with fans some of the supplements she’d been taking to recover from the virus, as she joked it ‘wasn’t the way’ she hoped to kick off the New Year.

Trinny took to Facebook Live to reveal she’d been absent from social media while she recovered from the virus, explaining: ‘I’m just getting over a little bit of corona and I just haven’t been up for chatting.

‘For those of you watching from abroad we’ve just had news of full lockdown last night, so it’s been a few days of it. It made me think actually I want to start my January 1st in a couple of weeks that’s where I’m at now.’

Explaining the main symptoms she’d been suffering, Trinny revealed she likely contracting COVID-19 from her loved ones who she’d been looking after, despite taking precautions and using PPE.

She continued: ‘I did feel really horrible until the middle of last night, probably until 5am this morning, and then I went back to sleep had a few days of feeling horrible because Christmas I’d been looking after people around me who had corona, and I thought I was invincible.

‘I was really careful with them in the household, wearing gloves and protective clothing and then in the end I was just wearing the mask and stuff and then I got it too.’

The main symptoms for COVID-19 are listed as a continuous cough, a fever and a loss of taste and smell, with those who test positive advised for self-isolate for 10 days.

Trinny explained she wanted to share the health supplements she’d taken to aid her recovery, alongside taking paracetamol and drinking plenty of water.

She added: ‘I want to share with you what I’m taking. I think I just feel very very tired. Not the way I want to come into fighting January that’s for sure, but then I’ll be… actually I feel now I’d get on here and speak to you guys.

‘I had a bit of a chest infection too so that was why, but send me health manifestation as I’m not feeling my strong self, I miss talking to you, and so I thought I should just get on the phone now.’

Trinny also revealed she’d been ‘living’ in one of her dad’s old shirts and cosy jumpers while she was holed up at home recovering, adding that wearing colourful clothes had helped keep her spirits up.

On the mend: The presenter revealed she’d had a difficult start to 2021 after spending several days confined to her bed ‘feeling horrible’

Late last month Trinny shared an emotional message with her Instagram followers on Monday, as she spoke about feeling ‘stressed’ and ‘isolated’ in recent weeks.

The TV personality shared a video of herself in workout gear as she prepared to attempt a fitness session at home following her recent battle with novel coronavirus.

And the former What Not To Wear star fought back tears as she confessed to the emotional struggles she’d been privately dealing with throughout the month.

‘I feel I haven’t been in touch recently, and I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life. It’s been a stressful three weeks, which I haven’t kind of shared fully,’ she said in the self-shot footage.

‘Some things there should be a dividing line, really. But I need to be candid with you all that I’ve just felt a lot of pressure and worry.

So I feel today it is the beginning of looking after me and getting myself well, getting myself well, getting my post corona body, which is very tired – when I go for walks I’ve been very tired – to a place of feeling well…’

London-born Trinny then went on to reveal that she had even resumed smoking – a habit she’d ditched back in November – as stress overwhelmed her.

She continued: ‘When I had corona I wasn’t that well, so I lost a bit of weight. But I feel very unfit… So I’m trying to eat well.

‘With the stress of everything, for the last five days I started smoking because it was just a really, really difficult few days. So I see that as a glitch and I’m back to where I was when I’d given up back in November.’

Candid revelation: Later in January Trinny shared an emotional message with her Instagram followers on Monday, as she spoke about feeling ‘stressed’ and ‘isolated’ in recent weeks

She then fought back tears as she spoke about getting in touch with some of her friends after an extended period of relative isolation.

Trinny said: ‘I had become very isolated and with all these things that I’ve got going on in my personal life, I hadn’t reached out to any friends.

‘I think we sometimes forget the friends we have, and we forget that they’ll pick up the phone to us because we can make our world so small that we just feel we’re on our own. So yesterday, I had a chat to lots of friends. I felt so much better.

‘I told a couple of them what was going and I got identification back of some people who had been through similar stuff and then it was just like, “I’m not on my own.”

‘And also, the other thing I did is I called a couple of friends and I didn’t tell them all the stuff that was going on, but I knew they’d had a tough time.

Fitness: The TV personality shared a video of herself in workout gear as she prepared to attempt a fitness session at home following her recent battle with novel coronavirus

‘I said, “How’s it going…?” Just to not be thinking 90 per cent in my head space about what I’m dealing with at the moment, so that’s good to do too… They need that support as well.’

While she has dealt with a series of issues, Trinny has said that the lack of having something to look forward to has also been challenging, particularly as she’d planned to take her daughter Lyla, 17, to the US to view universities this year.

‘Everyone has days that are up and down,’ she said. ‘I woke up this morning in England and I opened the paper and it said summer holidays might be in jeopardy, or something.

‘And I think that thing of thinking you’ve got something to look forward to that keeps you motivated is very important for all of us, for anyone, whether you have a job, or children, or don’t have children or you’re with someone or you’re not.

‘And I just thought, “F**k, here we go again.” I was thinking at Easter I’d take Lyla to see the US colleges. She’s desperate to go to an American university. I was thinking, now I can’t do that.

‘But I think there are really good things in my life, and I’m surrounded by a phenomenal team at work.

‘Lyla is 17, a teenager, should be out running around and has this constrained life, which at 17 I did not have… Yesterday, we just left the house… and we just sort of had this afternoon together. [We] went around and got a snack and went to the park.’

In the end, she revealed her commitment to sticking to a new Year’s resolution, which has involved doing things each day that will bring her happiness.
