Donald Trump lost the 2020 Presidential Election and he finally released a statement months later to say he will transition to the next President Joe Biden in an orderly fashion. This comes one day after the devastating coup at the U.S. Capitol by Trump‘s supporters as congress met to certify Biden’s election win.
“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” Trump said in a statement (via CNN). “I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again.”
Many are blaming Trump for the events that happened at the Capitol on Wednesday (January 6). During a rally that morning, he told his supporters, “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol. And we’re gonna cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women. And we’re probably not going to be cheering, so much for some of them, because you’ll never take back our country with weakness, you have to show strength and you have to be strong,” Trump said, addressing his supporters who gathered maskless on the Ellipse near the White House Wednesday morning.
Celebrities have been reacting to the events and you can read some of the tweets.
