Tyrese Gibson Hails Will Smith as His ‘Hero’ Following Apology Video Over Chris Rock Oscars Slap

After Will shares a poignant clip, which sees him apologizing to the comedian for slapping him on the annual event, the ‘Fast and Furious’ actor gushes over the ‘King Richard’ star in a lengthy message.

AceShowbizTyrese Gibson apparently has a lot to say about Will Smith and Chris Rock‘s Oscars drama in which Will slapped the comedian onstage over a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. After Will shared a poignant clip, which saw him apologizing to Chris, Tyrese made it clear that he has a lot of respect for Will for doing so in a lengthy message.

“After 3 months [ as so much other STUFF has happened in the world ] he’s been paused and put in mental, emotional and traumatic prison ] because when you actually CARE for people and how you effect them from your WORDS and CHOICES you lose a LOT of sleep over those very mistakes,” the “Morbius” actor wrote in an Instagram comment. “Will Smith if you see this message big bro the real ones out here love you and have never ever stopped loving you because we know you are HUMAN. We also have never stopped loving Chris, his family or Jada or your family.”

In his message, the “F9” actor also seemingly addressed Chris referring to Will as “Suge Smith”, which is assumed to be a reference to incarcerated Death Row Records boss Suge Knight. “You def broke the internet…. But if Suge Knight had slapped someone at the Oscar’s it would have been in the blogs for 3 days and been over,” he wrote. “If wasn’t the slap or the mistake it was because it was YOU that slapped and made the mistake.”

“We ALL forgive you and love you…. I can’t wait to get back to LA because right now on my fireplace I have a bootleg Oscar and yours is REAL,” he continued. “You’re my forever and ever hero and I thank you for growing up in REAL TIME and showing us what it’s like to be the BIGGEST MOVIE STAR in the WORLD and then showing us ALL that’s you’re HUMAN and make mistakes too.”

Tyrese said that while most people “won’t apologize,” Will does. “That’s what always makes you the BIGGEST STAR in every room you walk into… ALL HEART AND NO excuses……,” he concluded.

His comments garnered mixed reactions from Internet users. Some of them were not trolled him with one commenting, “Amen.” Another user said, “Ain’t nobody reading all that.”

Some others, however, agreed with Tyrese. “Tyrese is SPOT tf on, it ‘only matters, because it was Will Smith’ who slapped him. If it were any one else without that earned elite Black Status in Hollywood it would’ve blown over,” someone responded. Another person noted, “That was so nice and thoughtful.”

In an Instagram video posted Friday, July 29, Will said that he was “fogged out” and “fuzzy” at the time of the slap, which was why he didn’t say sorry to Chris at the time. The “King Richard” star revealed, “I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk when he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

The 53-year-old actor also apologized to Chris’ mother and entire family, saying, “I just didn’t realize how many people got hurt in that moment, so I want to apologize to Chris’s mother. I want to apologize.” Additionally, Will insisted his wife Jada, did not instruct him to slap Chris.
