Tyson Fury reveals new daughter Athena 'stable' after asking fans for prayers

Tyson Fury has shared a hopeful update on his newborn daughter after asking fans for ‘prayers’ following her birth.

Tyson and wife Paris welcomed their sixth child together on Sunday August 8, with the boxer confirming they had named her Athena.

In a new message shared on Monday, the sports star revealed Athena is ‘stable’ but remains in intensive care for now. Paris is also doing well after giving birth.

He said: ‘Massive thanks for all the messages and support. The baby is in a stable position & doing well hopefully she comes out icu today.

‘Please keep baby Athena in your prayers. Paris is doing great. God bless.’

Hours before giving birth, Paris shared footage from the hospital delivery room showing Tyson watching a fight on his phone.

‘Even in this situation he’s watching the boxing,’ she captioned the clip in her Instagram stories.

Tyson had revealed he was to be a dad for the sixth time in February, telling boxing reporter Gareth A Davies that he was ‘thankful’.

‘I have a beautiful wife, beautiful kids, we’re all healthy,’ he said.

‘That’s the most important thing you know, your health and your family. Nothing else really matters.

‘Your job, your money, your wealth, your career, none of that really matters because you can get another job, you can start a new career, you can go make more money, it doesn’t matter. The one thing you can’t get back is your family.

‘You can’t get back time lost. That’s the crazy thing about it all.’

Tyson and Paris have been married since 2009 and are parents to daughters Venezuela, 10, and two-year-old Valencia Amber, and sons Prince Adonis, one, Prince Tyson, three and Prince John James, seven.

Paris previously shared on Loose Women that the pregnancy had been at the right time for them, but lockdown complicated things.

‘We were planning this one but it came at a great time, the idea was that it was wonderful, it was all great news until we came home and everything was in lockdown.

‘There’s no school and everything was back up in the air.’

‘It was a great idea until s*** hit the fan,’ she added.
