The stars were out in force on Thursday as a wealth of famous faces from across fashion, film and music gathered to see the Versace Fall/Winter 2023 Fashion Show in Los Angeles.
A-list names such as Cher and Elton John lead the cream of the crop as they sat front row and centre in support of their long time friend Donatella Versace as she debuted her latest collection.
Using the event to showcase some of their own sartorial prowess, the stars in attendance used the show as a means of showing off their unique and often bold fashion choices while celebrating the freedom of expression fashion affords them.
Take Cher for example, the 76 year old singer looked decades younger as she sported a bold purple leather jacket covered in intricate stud work, as she posed alongside Miley Cyrus, who herself had opted for a tonal purple number complete with intricate chain embellishment.
Elton John too, was no stranger to standing out from the crowd as he also opted for a navy suit with rhinestone trimmed lapels and his usual trademark glasses.
Also in attendance were Rumer Willis and Demi Moore, who opted for chic black ensembles, while British actor Lucien Laviscount went for a far bolder hue as he stepped out in a stunning orange leather suit.
Yet it wasn’t just the clothes audiences were there to see, but also the models walking the runway, as fashion icon Naomi Campbell took to the runway to model the stylish designs at the age of 52.
Proving that she had no intention of slowing down, the fashion industry maven, who herself boasts a career spanning five decades, looked sensational as she strutted down the runway wearing an ankle-length black gown with a halter style and sweetheart neckline.
Naomi was also joined on the catwalk by a host of other modelling greats, including Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, both aged 27, and Emily Ratajkowski, 31.
Mariacarla Boscono, 42 – a supermodel who rose to fame in the early 2000s – also modelled at the show, as she donned a turtleneck, long-sleeved top and a flared, A-line skirt for her bold strut down the catwalk.
With black serving as the signature colour for most of the designs, the models all showcased the culmination of exquisite craftsmanship and intricate details before they were joined by Donatella on stage to celebrate her work with a round of much deserved applause.
Donatella’s latest collection, harkened back to the mid 90’s, with the pivotal inspiration drawn from Richard Avedon’s 1995 images of Kristen McMenamy, in which the American supermodel was photographed wearing a chic skirt suit tailored close to her immaculate figure.
As a result, the collection epitomised fine tailoring with a modern twist, with plenty of structured garments in classic black dotting the runway, with plenty more nods to iconic looks of the past thrown in for good measure.
Seeped in nostalgia, among some of the most standout designs was a crystal-encrusted naked dress that seemed to be closely inspired by Marilyn Monroe, while a va-va-voom interpretation of the cone bra, gave a subtle shoutout to musical royalty Madonna.
“I wanted to go back to the cut and shape of the clothes, to concentrate on the perfect little black dress, the perfect black suit,” Versace told Vogue ahead of the show.
And the designer did precisely that, dazzling her audiences with both runway ready garments and an impressive ready to wear collection that also carried similar elements but with a slightly more casual twist.
