WandaVision<\/em> Cut a Big Villain Reveal From Its Finale

WandaVision director Matt Shakman has opened up about one big villain scene that didn’t make the show’s final cut.

The Disney+ series wrapped up its first (and probably only) season last week, and we almost witnessed an epic moment involving another villain–Agatha Harkness’s “demon bunny” Señor Scratchy.

“There was a very fun, Goonies-style set piece involving Señor Scratchy, who was Agatha’s familiar, turning into a sort of demon bunny and chasing the kiddos, Monica, and Ralph around the bewitched basement,” Shakman told Entertainment Weekly.

“There’s always little things that get cut. That was a longer scene that we ended up losing. We shot it, but it was pretty early on that we had to pivot away from it.”

He explained: “Finales are tough because you have all these different pieces on the chess board, and those stories are happening concurrently.

“What’s happening in the town square with Agatha and Wanda is at the same time as Visions in the sky, and how do you move everybody to the inevitable merge point without feeling like you’re losing focus?

“Ultimately the story is Wanda and Vision’s story, and we didn’t want to derail that.”

Showrunner Jac Shaeffer previously opened up about the lack of a big villain in WandaVision, explaining: “We didn’t think this series needed a Big Bad.

“I mean, the Big Bad is grief, you know, and that’s the story that we were telling, and then we got a bonus baddie in the form of Agatha Harkness who ended up facilitating Wanda’s therapy, so yeah, I think we feel pretty good about that.”
