The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window ended on a completely deranged and hilarious note, but honestly we have questions that demand answers. So, while Netflix is deciding whether or not to give this “limited series” a second season, here are some questions we’d very much like the creators to address in the sequel, The Woman in the Seat Across the Arm Rest From the Lady in 2A (working title).
What *Actually* Happened to Elizabeth?
The show pretty strongly implied that Massacre Mike killed and ate Anna’s daughter Elizabeth during some sort of cannibalistic meltdown, but it’s never actually confirmed. It’s also unclear how Massacre Mike managed to have time to kill and snack upon (sorry) Elizabeth before someone from the jail managed to break down the door, but guess we’re willing to suspend our disbelief here for the ~trope of it all~.
Whomst Killed the Woman in Seat 2A?
This is obviously a big question mark considering the season ends with Anna finding her seat mate’s dead body in a plane bathroom—only for the body to disappear a few minutes later. The ending definitely opens the door for a second season (though if Kristen Bell has her way, we’ll find out what happened to the the mystery woman in seat 2A in the first few minutes of episode one before moving onto a whole new mystery).
What Happened to Poor Sweet Rex?!
Rex and Anna had a genuine connection, and by that I mean they had hot sex on literally every surface of her house. Last time we saw Rex he was getting arrested for Lisa’s murder, but we know he had a rock solid alibi and got out of jail. So, will he show up again in season 2 now that Anna is happily reunited with her ex-husband?
Sorry to Be Dramatic, But Where the Fuck Is Scott?
Anna’s next door neighbor Carol references her husband Scott in literally every. single. scene. But he doesn’t show up once in the show. This is obviously the writers leaning into the age-old trope of “Bored Neighbor Has Nothing to Do but Obsess Over Her Spouse,” but still. Scott might be a figment of Carol’s imagination, just saying.
Why Wasn’t Anna Arrested After Emma’s Death?
Anna spent this entire show with literally no one believing her. Yet we’re supposed to believe that police found her in the neighbor’s house surrounded by bodies—including a dead child she stabbed—and she didn’t get hauled off to jail? Sure, we, as viewers, know Anna didn’t kill anyone, but it’s not like Emma confessed to the police before she was stabbed (and her husband Douglas walked in on the scene AFTER said stabbing went down), so you’d think authorities would assume Anna is a lunatic who murdered her neighbor and his daughter, right?
How Did Emma, a Tiny Small Child, Dispose of Lisa’s Body?
Lisa’s body was literally found buried in the woods. Emma (a) doesn’t own a car and that little trolly can only go so far and (b) lacks the physical strength to move an adult woman’s body. Which in my opinion implies that she has an older, stronger accomplice. *side-eyes Buell*
What Happens to Buell?
We know he ends up alive and making creepy lamps out of taxidermy animals, but is he still living in Anna’s attic? Is he still fixing the mailbox? And has he really stopped killing people? Elizabeth’s psychologist husband doesn’t seem particularly good at his job (see: that time he brought his daughter to work with a cannibal) so not sure we can trust him on the whole “Buell is just a nice reformed serial killer!” thing.
