Strictly Come Dancing‘s results show returns to screens for the fourth week tonight, Sunday 16 October, after the sparkly celebrities took to the dance floor with their pro partners for the fourth week this series on Saturday night.

The fourth live show of the series hit BBC One with the 13 couples facing the third public vote of the series.

After giving it their all on the dancefloor last week, the celebrities once again learned a new routine as things stepped up a gear in week four.

Jayde Adams burst into tears after she and Karen Hauer danced the American Smooth to Wind Beneath My Wings to Bette Midler, with the comedian opening up about how it reminds her of her late sister Jenna, who passed away in 2011 from an inoperable brain tumour. They were awarded 31 points.

Judge Shirley Ballas – who herself faced trolling this week after being accused of sexism by viewers – also broke down in tears as she lauded Jayde’s routine, branding the comic ‘her hero.’

Elsewhere, Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystał danced a Salsa to Ecuador by Sash and received a standing ovation from the audience. The judges awarded them the highest score of the series, a near-perfect 39.

Fleur East and Vito Coppola followed closely behind with their Argentine Tango which bagged them 38 points, and in the third spot was Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, who got 35 points for their Cha Cha Cha.

Last week saw Radio 2 star Richie Anderson and his professional partner Giovanni Pernice eliminated after a shock dance-off with Fleur East with her partner Vito Coppola.

After both couples performed again, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse all voted to save Fleur, sending Richie home.

So, ahead of the results show tonight, here’s everything you need to know about the show as it heads into Week Five…

Get the glitter ready! With this year’s series well underway, here’s everything you need to know about the BBC programme…(the new line up pictured)

What time is Strictly’s results show on tonight and what will happen? How does the voting work?

The results show this week starts tonight at 7.15pm, beginning after Antiques Roadshow. It has a shorter running time to the main show at just 45 mins long, airing until 8pm.

Each week Strictly Come Dancing viewers vote for their favourite couple either by phone or online, and these votes are combined with the scores given by the judging panel for their performances.

The two couples with the fewest votes then go head-to-head in the dance-off, delivering a reprisal of their performance from the live show.

Hosts: Each week Strictly Come Dancing viewers vote for their favourite couple either by phone or online, and these votes are combined with the scores given by the judging panel for their performances (Tess and Claudia pictured on Saturday)

The judges then decide which couple they would like to save, and in the event of a tie head judge Shirley Ballas is given the casting vote.

And following on from last week’s second public vote of the competition, the pressure is well and truly on to get their steps right as the phone lines will once again open after the show for fans to vote for their favourite routines.

The main show will air live every Saturday throughout the autumn, with the final typically airing on the last Saturday before Christmas.

Its spin-off show, It Takes Two, will continue to air weeknights on BBC Two – with Rylan Clark and Janette Manrara taking the helm as hosts.

What happened in Week Four?

Jayde Adams burst into tears after she and Karen Hauer danced the American Smooth to Wind Beneath My Wings to Bette Midler, with the comedian opening up about how it reminds her of her late sister Jenna, who passed away in 2011 from an inoperable brain tumour. They were awarded 31 points.

In Jayde’s VT, she said: ‘The lyrics really resonate… she was two years older than me and she died 11 years ago. I didn’t just lose a sister, I lost a best friend, a dance partner. This song in particular is very special to me and my family and I hope I can do it justice this week.’

Strictly Come Dancing 2022: Jayde Adams burst into tears as she dedicated the American Smooth to her late sister Jenna and topped the leaderboard during Saturday’s show – with a teary-eyed Shirley Ballas calling the comedian ‘her hero’

Following the routine, a teary-eyed Shirley Ballas said: ‘I feel like you’re my hero. You’ve represented this number with everybody who’s lost a loved one. I’m really emotional. I’m sure your sister would be proud of you.’

Speaking to Claudia Winkleman afterwards, Jayde burst into hysterical tears, saying: ‘Something she said to my mum before she died, “Do you think people will forget me?” You just said her name on this and… ‘I’m so lucky that I get to do this because so many people lose people and grief is so difficult.

To be able to keep the promise that we wouldn’t let people forget her is the greatest gift.’ Elsewhere, Will Mellor – who had been struck down with an illness during the week – and Nancy Xu danced the Rumba to The Joker And The Queen by Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift – which gained them a score of 23.

In his VT, the EastEnders star had said: ‘Monday, I came into training and after a couple of hours, I felt funny. I’ve come down with a terrible virus.

Brave: Will Mellor performed with Nancy Xu despite being unwell as they were given 23 points for Rumba dedicated to mental health sufferers

Opening up: He said: ‘The actual story behind the dance is powerful, it bring me back to a time when I wasn’t in a happy place. Men find it difficult to talk so I hope people see this and go, “Yeah, I am struggling and can reach out, with something there to catch you’

‘The actual story behind the dance is powerful, it brings me back to a time when I wasn’t in a happy place. Men find it difficult to talk so I hope people see this and go, “Yeah, I am struggling and can reach out”, with someone there to catch you.’

Will previously opened up about his mental health crisis following the death of his sister nine years ago and the passing of his father in 2020. In her feedback, judge Motsi Mabuse said: ‘It’s great to see the spark between you two is always there.

‘But your body posture is better now than when you were dancing. With such a slow Rumba song, your spine is important for what’s happening up and down.

‘Ask where do you stand and where is your spine, those things didn’t come together today. We know you’re talented so come back stronger next time.’

Ellie Simmonds and her partner Nikita Kuzmin gained a score of 30 while dancing the Salsa to Shanice’s I Love Your Smile, with Anton Du Beke saying in his feedback: ‘I’m already in a wonderful mood and now I’m in an even better mood.

Wow! Ellie Simmonds and her partner Nikita Kuzmin gained a score of 30 while dancing the Salsa to Shanice’s I Love Your Smile, with Anton Du Beke saying in his feedback: ‘I’m already in a wonderful mood and now I’m in an even better mood’

Woah! They put on a show-stopping display for audiences at home

He added: ‘What I love about your dancing is you always get the right atmosphere for your dance. That was a great performance and I enjoyed it, well done.’

Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova Jived their way to 20 points, with Shirley Ballas saying: ‘There is no disputing you are 100% committed to this competition for sure. I can see you have it in your eyes and want to improve. I think you’re doing quite well with your coordination but now is time to focus on your feet.’

Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu performed the Cha Cha Cha and received 35 points. James Bye and Amy Dowden danced the Quickstep and were awarded 32 points.

Fleur East and Vito Coppola wowed the judges with the Argentine Tango to The Rolling Stones’ Paint It Black – after being in the bottom two last week – and won a score of 38.

Happy: They both seemed to be in their element during the performance

Shirley put paid to trolls’ claims that she is ‘anti-women’ by praising the singer she said she would have sent home from the dance-off last week and giving her nine out of ten points.

She said: ‘That is the way to come from a dance-off, it was sizzling, like a red hot chilli pepper, it was effortless, it was controlled, had sensuality beyond beyond. You play your own musical instrument, after seeing that today, you just play your own body beautifully.’

Next up was Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima, who danced the Samba to 32 points. Tony Adams and Katya Jones danced the American Smooth, with fellow footballer David Seaman making a surprise appearance during rehearsals to support his pal.

Woohoo! Fleur East and Vito Coppola wowed the judges with the Argentine Tango to The Rolling Stones’ Paint It Black – after being in the bottom two last week – and won a score of 38

Before they won a score of 26, Craig Revel Horwood said: ‘Better,’ having only awarded two points last week with Motsi adding, ‘You guys were brilliant, well done.’

But host Claudia Winkleman was forced to apologise on Saturday night after the former footballer accidentally swore live on air.

He was left thrilled over the judges positive feedback following his and Katya ‘s impressive routine to With A Little Help From My Friends by Joe Cocker.

However, Tony appeared to get a little carried away as he let slip a swear word, with presenter Claudia quick to say sorry to fans over the ‘fruity language’ used.

Talented: Next up was Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima, who danced the Samba to 32 points

Congrats! James Bye and Amy Dowden danced the Quickstep and were awarded 32 points

Who got eliminated last week?

The second Results Show of the series saw Richie Anderson to be the first contestant eliminated from the series.

Fleur East and Richie were voted into the dance off, with the judges were surprised to see Fleur, who finished sixth on the leaderboard with her partner Vito Coppola, and Richie who together with Giovanni Pernice finished eighth, in the bottom two.

After both couples performed again, judges Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse all voted to save Fleur, sending Richie home.

Richie and Giovanni performed their Samba to Hakuna Matata from The Lion King after previously opening Saturday night’s Movie Week with the fun routine.

Then Fleur and her dance partner Vito performed their American Smooth to Part Of Your World from The Little Mermaid, in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

All over: Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice have been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing following Sunday’s results show

After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts. Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Fleur and Vito, telling the couples: ‘I would like to save the most accomplished technician and that is Fleur and Vito.’

Motsi Mabuse chose to save Fleur and Vito, admitting: ‘I think it’s heartbreaking actually because I think both of you do not deserve to be here but this is how the public voted and based on this dance off I’m going to save Fleur and Vito.’

Speaking after three of the four judges opted to vote her out, Kaye admitted it was the ‘right result’.

Reflecting on her brief Strictly experience, Kaye admitted she had no argument with the judges’ decision to let her go.

She said: ‘It was the right result and I did make mistakes, and when it comes to that high pressured situation that’s what happens.

‘So I am delighted for Matt and Nadiya, the only person I am just sorry for is this wonderful man [Kai], who has just been so brilliant…It was a hell of a lot of fun, I said my ambition was to learn to love to dance, and actually I have seen a whole new side to myself, it’s opened a little door.

‘It’s been a wonderful experience and to spend time with such talented people who love the show so much has been a joy!’
