Zoe Ball, 50, spoke candidly about life in lockdown today, as the BBC Radio 2 presenter revealed she is on a weight loss journey. The mum-of-two admitted she suffered a near-miss injury, after her workout regime took a turn for the worst.

Speaking on her radio programme, The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, the host admitted she felt “demoralised” after disaster struck.

The broadcaster chatted with her colleague and newsreader Richie Anderson about the blunder.

“I had a bit of an incident yesterday,” Zoe confessed. “Well, someone told me you can lose more weight walking quite fast on a [treadmill] incline than running.”

She continued: “You know, I’m slightly obsessed with these things at the moment.”

Zoe explained that she hasn’t had any luck with shedding the pounds.

She said: “I’ve been on a two-week diet by the way. I’ve not even lost a pound. It’s so demoralising.”

Speaking about the incident, she went on: “I tried this thing yesterday but I think I set the incline [on the treadmill] slightly too high for myself and the pace.

“I was literally hanging off the machine like a mountain goat with no one to help me.”

Adding a silver lining, Zoe exclaimed: “I tell you what though, I’ve woken up this morning with thighs of steel. They must have been right, Richie.”

Her colleague broke out into hysterics following Zoe’s awkward incident before he issued an apology.

“Thanks for laughing at my dilemmas. Bless you,” the presenter commented.

Richie replied: “Sorry, I’ve just got the image of Mustafa falling off the edge of the cliff in Lion King.”

Zoe added: “That’s exactly what was happening. I’ve broken a nail and everything. It was a disaster.”

The radio host is reportedly dating her boyfriend of two years Michael Reed.

The former construction boss and Zoe were first spotted together in 2017 but had reportedly called it quits in 2019.

However, the pair have reportedly reconciled and have been spending time together.

Last year, Zoe shared that Michael had dyed her hair during the first Covid lockdown.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a snap of her beau beaming his gleaming white smile while sat in a hire van.

“My man in a van. Patience of a saint, strength of an ox. On the hottest day of the year. Happy weekend x @michaelreed99,” she captioned the image.

The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show airs weekdays on Radio 2 at 6.30am.
