AI reworks Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa to show how it’d look today

Leonardo da Vinci’s famous portrait of the Mona Lisa and her enigmatic smile has intrigued admirers for decades, but a new version generated by artificial intelligence may arouse interest for a very different reason. The AI produced piece depicts a woman who you might stumble across on Instagram or inside the Love Island villa.

The AI Mona Lisa has youthful, unblemished skin, green eyes, long dark hair and an ample cleavage which leaves little to the imagination.

The image created quite a stir when it was posted on Twitter and has been viewed more than eight million times.

Twitter user Nfqta commented: “mona lisa didnt have an onlyfans ok…”.

Fellow Twitter user Juan R Diaz wrote: “Now I’m interested in art.”

A third Twitter user, Michael Krawczyk, wrote: “Damn, she don’t need a smile to charm me.”

But others were scathing of the version of da Vinci’s 1503 half-length portrait.

Twitter user Jo A commented: “Absolutley ridiculous.”

Rambi tweeted in response: “Yet neither the look nor the smirk is there. Also, are we (ai) claiming that the avg. wmn today show that much bosom?”
