Antarctica Google Earth mystery as 700ft object found in ice ‘looks like a ship’

A Google Earth enthusiast claims to have spotted a strange object in satellite images that he believes looks like a cargo ship flipped onto its side.

In a YouTube video uploaded on Wednesday (November 17) MrMBB333 tells his half a million subscribers he found the object in icy waters by Montagu Island off the coast of Antarctica at the coordinates 58°28'26"S 26°14'09"W.

He has previously claimed to have spotted a "dome" and an "entrance" in the ice on the remote continent.

In this latest video, the white object he has spotted is roughly rectangular in shape and the YouTuber says it measures 700ft long and appears to have notches in the side.

He says: "To me the top half looks of what looks like a cargo ship definitely looks different to the lower half

"You have a crisp line through the centre that kind of separates the top half from the bottom half and the bottom half looks like it's made out of a different material."

He also reckons there are "lines or straps" across the top "holding the cargo in place".

The video has been watched more than 35,000 times and received 3,600 "likes" and hundreds of comments, and many people agreed with his theory.

One user said: "Definitely looks like cargo for sure! Great observation!"

"The rectangular shape looks like a transport container ship out of Chile a few decades old, minimum," wrote a second.

Meanwhile, other people thought it was just an iceberg and said the notches could be naturally formed.

A viewer wrote: "Perhaps that’s an iceberg that just fell over on its side.

"The top part has the lines in it because it was dragging against other ice or the bottom of the sea? And the smooth part was above water?"

Someone else wrote: "Don't stop doing what you're doing. But if those are straps they have to be at least 10 ft wide."

A third argued: "Symmetry is extremely common in nature, it does not need to be manmade."
