Bloke gets supermarket discount code tattooed on his arm – and it actually works

An Aussie man will never have to worry about forgetting his loyalty card at the checkout after he took the bold step of getting his Woolworth's reward code tattooed on his arm.

And in a hilarious TikTok posted in April, the man proved that the crazy tat actually worked at the tills.

In the clip, the man is seen buying a bottle of Sprite at a self-service checkout before flashing his decorated arm over the barcode reader, which picks up the code, announcing: “Your Everyday Rewards card has been added.”

The man then gloats to the person holding the camera: “See? It worked.”

The clip drew comments from both fans and those who thought the step was a bit too far.

One viewer said: "I'm not sure if I'm impressed or embarrassed."

Another was more enthusiastic, chiming in: "OMG. That’s so cool."

And this man isn't the only one to have permanently etched a loyalty card into his skin.

Scaffolder Dean Mayhew, recently made headlines after he got his Tesco Clubcard code emblazoned on his forearm after, despite shopping at the supermarket giant upwards of three times a day, he kept forgetting it – meaning he was losing a fortune on his groceries.

The 30-year-old from Horsham spent some time weighing up the decision before finally taking the plunge, with tattoo artist Dan Rossetter saying he'd never had a request like it over the course of his 12-year career.

Rossetter said: "At first I said, ‘are you sure you want to do this?' But I saw the fun within it and thought, ‘let's do it’."

"I was anxious about how well it was likely to work as it's an intricate bar code but Dean was quite relaxed about it and was going for the fun aspect – he said if it didn’t work it wasn’t the end of the world.

"I did the tattoo and we went to the till and a person with a scanner tried and on the first go it worked. Dean’s face lit up and I realised it actually did work.

"I think I’m always quite a fun outgoing type of guy anyway so it was a bit of banter and there is the element of it being a genius idea – it's not something I would have come up with off the top of my head, to be honest, I thought it was quite cool."
