A British artist is painting portraits of Vladimir Putin using dog poo to "insult" the Russian President and raise money for victims of the war in Ukraine.
Dominic Murphy from Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, created the piece with the help of his dog Sybil and titled it "Poo-tin's a S**t".
Dominic is more well known for painting scenes from Alice in Wonderland but the horrors of the Ukraine conflict inspired him to get experimental.
Speaking to the Welwyn Hatfield Times he explained: "I didn’t want to do anything wishy-washy like doves, I wanted to do something to insult Putin and still raise money for Ukraine.
"I mixed it [the poo] with mud then varnished the whole thing about 30 times so you can’t smell it.
"It’s niche and it’s quite the statement, but I really liked the idea of being able to insult him while raising money for the people of Ukraine."
Dominic claimed that he's had a good reaction to the bizarre project, with the original print selling for £150.
Subsequent prints are available to buy on his website or at his stall in Hatfield Market for £40, and so far he has raised £500.
Dominic will be donating half of the proceeds to UNICEF, but hopes to increase the total further before handing over the cash.
He wrote in the description of the piece: "I thought if I could paint something that is relevant to the conflict, and that could grab some attention, I could produce some prints and give the profit to those in need.
"So I present my portrait of a mad man, Putin. The painting had been created using dog s**t and mud on canvas and is entitled 'Poo-tin's a S**t', a bit crass perhaps but nevertheless I think my point is made.
"Please buy to help and a minimum of £20 per print will go directly to UNICEF.
"Thanks for looking and buying… Slava Ukraini [Glory to Ukraine]."
Dominic is also donating the proceeds from another print, which depicts Putin re-imagined as Adolf Hitler and crouched over into a swastika shape.
