Brit stag dos hit by a dwarf crisis due to demand – as shortage leads to rota

Stag and hen parties are being hit by a shortage of dwarf performers.

Companies who provide entertainers across the UK say there are not enough dwarf actors to fill demand.

Bosses blame the Covid lockdowns for many workers having to find new careers and leaving the industry for good.

Steve Frost, of Max Stag Weekends, said: “Ever since Covid, we have seen our numbers of workers dwindle.

“We have seen less than half the dwarf workforce come back as they obviously had to go and find new jobs that were not dependent on parties being okay to go ahead.

“We had hoped with the cost of living crisis we may get a few more people in need of work, but it looks to be a dying art and it’s really sad when the demand is so high. It’s becoming a bit of a dwarf crisis.”

Dwarf actors are typically paid about £150 per hour.

Steve added: “We are actually having to try and have rotas of dwarves available in the biggest UK cities, where we know stag parties happen.

“But we also have areas that have no cover because there are just not the numbers. We have had to turn work down and apologise to people wanting to book.”
