Beaches may remain off-limits when lockdown is lifted – because budgie-smugglers are back.
Blokes are set to strut their stuff on the sand in skimpy Speedo-style swimming briefs after top designers included them in their new ranges.
Aussie swimwear firm Speedo has never stopped knocking out the tiny trunks.
But high-end UK fashion firm Orlebar Brown has added a number of tight trunks to its latest summer collection.
They include the tiny £95 stripy dachshund shorts.
Buyers are told: “For these Dachshund swim briefs we’ve looked to retro stripes.
“This flattering navy and white style comes in Italian knitted fabric with an internal drawcord adorned with nickel-effect ends."
“Retro and refined," the Orlebar Brown description continues, "Dachshund is a classic swim brief to wear in the pool or on the beach.
“In a sporty shape this design offers great shape retention and maximum movement.’’
Flamboyant Italian designer Versace (corr) is also plugging a range of super-tight trunks – all for over £100.
Of the skimpiest pair – which cost £145 – the firm’s website states: “Bold and confident, these swim briefs boast the iconic Barocco print.’’
Another Versace pair – retailing for £190 and featuring two lions on the front – are described as: “Classic swim briefs boasting the Barocco Mosaic print, an elegant patchwork of archive prints that celebrate the brand’s aesthetic heritage.’’
Speedo itself sells a pair of blue trunks for just £18.
Customers are told: “Speedo Essentials – everything you need for a great swim.
“Love your swim wearing the 5cm Trunks from our much-loved Essentials range.
“Eye-catching in bright blue it includes a drawstring waist for a secure and comfortable fit during training.
“Soft and stretchy so you can enjoy your swim without feeling restricted.’’
The briefs are the latest freaky fashion style to make a comeback during the pandemic, including mullets, bell-bottoms and socks in sandals.
