Celebrities who ‘encountered UFOs’ – from Robbie Williams to Prince Philip

Over the years thousands, perhaps millions, of people say they have seen unexplained objects in the sky.

It’s only reasonable, then, that a handful of celebrities will have have shared their own alien encounters.

Whether they actually saw extraterrestrial beings, we do not know.

But Daily Star is not here to judge them, and if they say they saw a strange light in the sky we are not going to cast doubt on their beliefs.

From Robbie Williams heading out on alien hunts to Gladiator icon Russell Crowe sharing his "sighting" with the Twittersphere, Daily Star has rounded up six of the best celebrity UFO sightings for your Spaced Out reading pleasure.

Robbie Williams

Robbie is known for his obsession with extraterrestrials, even taking a break from his career in 2006 to go alien hunting.

“I’ve seen a few strange things,” said the Angels singer. “I’ve experienced phenomena I can’t explain."

Describing one very close encounter with a spacecraft he said: “I’ve seen one right above me and if I got a tennis ball out I could have hit it with a tennis ball.”

Not only is Robbie fascinated by aliens, it seems the feeling’s mutual: "I had just finished writing a song called Arizona, which is about alien abduction, when there was this glow. It was magic."

He maintains his UFO experiences had no assistance from drugs or alcohol: “No substance was involved,” he said.

“No, no substance was involved at all.”

Miley Cyrus

  • Woman finds disc-shaped 'UFO' in backyard and some say they see a 'blinking eye'

Wrecking Ball Miley Cyrus star says she had little “weed wax" when she had her most memorable alien encounter.

“The best way to describe it is a flying snowplough. It had this big plough in the front of it and was glowing yellow,” she added. “I did see it flying, and my friend saw it, too.”

Most remarkably, though, when Miley saw the alien, the aliens saw her: "I did see a being sitting in the front of the flying object," she said.

"It looked at me and we made eye contact, and I think that's what really shook me, looking into the eyes of something that I couldn't quite wrap my head around.”

Russell Crowe

  • Brit 'abducted' by 30ft 'dome-shaped' UFO before police found mystery ground marks

The Gladiator hero not only saw a UFO, he posted several photos of it to Twitter.

“UFO?” He wrote, “Time Lapse Photos Outside RC's Woolloomooloo Office,” adding emphatically “THESE ARE REAL!”.

Several sceptics replied that he had probably been misled by the reflection in his window of a boat from the nearby marina, but Russell didn’t back down: "We considered that,” he replied, “but to cover that distance in 4.5 secs it would have to be travelling at 80km per hour”.

Demi Lovato

  • Rehab, knife fights and a run-in with the FBI: The strange story of Men In Black

The Heart Attack singer posted several images of unidentified flying objects in the night sky over California’s Joshua Tree national park in 2017.

The sighting was, by all accounts, a deeply spiritual experience for Demi: "Over the past couple months I have dug deep into the science of consciousness and experienced not only peace and serenity like I've never known but I also have witnessed the most incredibly profound sightings both in the sky as well as feet away from me,” they wrote.

Demi, who was in the desert with UFO advocate Steven Greer, said: "If we were to get 1% of the population to meditate and make contact, we would force our governments to acknowledge the truth about extraterrestrial life among us and change our destructive habits destroying our planet.”

Kurt Russell

Kurt Russell is not only a celebrity UFO spotter, he’s one of the dozens of people who witnessed the phenomenal Phoenix Lights event in 1997.

"I was flying [his son Oliver] to go see his girlfriend, and we were on approach," he told reporters.

"I saw six lights over the airport in absolute uniform in a V shape. Oliver said to me—I was just looking at him, I was coming in, we're maybe a half a mile out—and Oliver said, 'Pa, what are those lights?’"

The veteran actor, who has appeared in dozens of hit movies including sci-fi smashes The Thing and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, reported the bizarre sighting, only to find he was one of hundreds who had witnessed the airborne anomaly.

Fife Symington, who was the governor of Arizona at the time, was another witness of the “otherworldly” V-shaped craft. "I'm a pilot and I know just about every machine that flies,” he said. "It was bigger than anything that I've ever seen. It remains a great mystery."

Prince Philip

Almost certainly the most distinguished UFO nut, though, is the late Duke of Edinburgh.

While he never reported a sighting himself, Prince Philip became interested in alien encounters after his beloved uncle Lord Mountbatten, wrote an official report about an alien in a silver spaceship landing in the grounds of his estate.

Lord Mountbatten said the alien craft had touched down at his Broadlands estate in Romsey, Hampshire, and described how a staff member encountered an extraterrestrial dressed in overalls and a helmet before he was knocked off his bike and pinned to the ground by an “unseen force.”
