Disgusted Aldi shopper finds ‘snake’ inside beans tin she almost threw in horror

An Aldi shopper nearly threw a tin of beans "across the room" when she opened it only to discover what looked like a dead snake inside.

The woman from Porth in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales purchased the tin of Corale premium quality baked beans, only to find the alleged stowaway under the lid.

The 26-year-old said she spotted "something grey and black with distinctive markings" floating in the sauce. "So, um… is that a snake in my beans?" she asked in a tweet, to which she attached a pic of said item.

Wales Online reported that Aldi responded to Lauren and said that air might have got into the tin, causing the food to perish.

Even still, social media users had no shortage of comments on the matter. One person described it as "traumatising," while another replied, "Are you sure it’s not listed in the ingredients under 'addertives'?"

"I can't even look at that oh my God," said a third.

The customer who asked not to be named said she was too freaked out by the discovery to get to the bottom of what the mystery ingredient actually was.

"I almost threw the tin across the room when I opened it up and saw what was inside," she explained. "I physically couldn't bring myself to touch it. So I poked it with a fork and it all moved at once, after which point I refused to look again. So I wrapped it up and took it to Aldi to complain and they gave me two bottles of wine as a goodwill gesture."

Nevertheless, after apologising for the inconvenience, a spokesperson for the supermarket made a suggestion regarding what could have been in the tin.

"Whilst we would not be able to explain the exact cause of this, it may have been due to a breach in the packaging which has allowed air to enter and cause the item to perish," they said.

"We will ensure your comments regarding this product are passed onto the relevant department. In the meantime, please return to the store for a full refund – please ask to speak to a member of staff who will be more than willing to help."
