Fans of a young female motorbike rider are stunned after discovering she's really a 50-year-old man.
Japanese rider @azusagakuyuki has gained a huge following on social media for posting photos of "herself" posing with her bike or out on the open road.
Writing mainly about her love of "playing around with bikes", the user also posted some more risqué snaps of herself lying in bed with seemingly little or no clothing.
With long red hair, eye makeup and feminine features, most people took the user for a young woman.
But now a Japanese variety show has revealed the truth. A TV crew tracked the rider down and filmed the moment they removed their helmet, showing themselves to be a middle-aged man with a luscious head of hair.
He admitted to "catfishing" his fans, revealing he's been using tools like FaceApp and PhotoShop to alter his face and give him a feminine appearance, because nobody wanted to see an "uncle", as he put it.
FaceApp offers users a feature that swaps them to the opposite gender, making his con all too easy to pull off.
He added that the "beautifying" process was enjoyable, as was the skyrocketing number of likes on his Instagram posts.
He realised that he attracted far more attention and followers as a woman, obtaining more than 17,000 fans on Twitter alone.
However some eagle-eyed social media users say it was obvious all along that there was more than meets the eye, such as the rider's very masculine-looking bare arm spotted in one photo.
"People fell for that? The face really looks fake and damn, that hairy arm," one wrote.
"This is why you cannot trust social media for anything," another said.
One picture uploaded on February 11 may have given the game away, with the man's face clearly visible in the mirror of the bike.
This prompted a flurry of confusion over the motorbike rider's true identity, leading to the TV crew finally tracking him down and getting the truth.
