Fisherman catches terrifying catfish with prey still hanging from its mouth

A Russian fisherman landed a strange catch of the day – and it's a thing of nightmares.

Roman Fedortsov sources cod, haddock and mackerel on commercial trawlers and sometimes fishes up to 3,000ft below the surface.

But the 39-year-old from Murmansk, Russia has found some strange things along way, including a mushroom-like orange creature, an aggressive-looking angler fish, and another catch that resembled a doughnut.

Now he has shared his latest terrifying discovery on his social media, prompting his followers to describe it as the most horrifying "2 for 1 deal".

Sharing the video on his Instagram account @rfedortsov_official_account to his 649K followers, Roman’s post roughly translates to: “A catfish that recently ate haddock.⁣⁣⠀

“It's a case of it swallowed but did not have time to digest.⁣⁣⠀

“Very often, when cutting large fish in their stocks, we find slightly smaller fish.⁣”

The post racked up nearly 6,500 likes and dozens of comments, as people shared their shock and amazement at the fisherman's find.

One joked: “2 for 1 special”

While another said: “There is always a bigger fish”.

“My grandfather caught a big catfish in Mius, his stomach was full of frogs”, added a third.

Another claimed: “This summer in Italy, we saw a fisherman cleaning a squid that had recently eaten a fish.”

However, some believe the video had been staged. One user claimed that the fish wasn’t a catfish as claimed, instead, they believe it is a wolffish – that only eats crabs, mussels and crustaceans.

The small fish which was longer than it is wide had been described as looking like a "baby dragon" by his followers.

One person said: "It looks a little like a newly hatched dragon to me. Lol." [sic]

"God. The Dragon. Cool what! Who is this anyway?" another user commented.

Someone else said: "Sea or ocean Chupacabra?!?"
