Former MoD UFO investigator shares strongest alien evidence – ‘it won’t be long’

There have been thousands of UFO sightings across the UK over the years.

From freaky flying objects seen by scores of ordinary folk, to mystery craft reported by officials, policemen and pilots.

Nick Pope was an official Ministry of Defence UFO investigator and today reveals the best evidence he’s seen for the existence of aliens and why it’s just a matter of time before we find them…

“We had a wave of sightings over a six-hour period in late March 1993, with several dozen witnesses in different parts of the country.

“Many of the witnesses were police officers and military personnel, who saw a huge, triangular-shaped craft, emitting a low-frequency humming sound.

“Two military bases in the midlands – RAF Cosford and RAF Shawbury – were directly overflown. No definitive explanation was ever found, despite an extensive investigation.

“The Rendlesham Forest incident from December 1980 is the most convincing case in the MoD’s real-life X-Files and the case remains unexplained.

“What makes all this so compelling is the physical evidence – the UFO was tracked on radar and briefly landed, leaving high levels of radioactivity where it touched down.

“Most of the witnesses were United States Air Force personnel based at RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge. Even the Deputy Base Commander saw it!

“I don’t know that any of us who’ve looked at this subject from within the government have a ‘smoking gun’ so there’s not necessarily a cover-up in the sense the UFO community believes.

UK sightings of alien craft

UFO CAPITAL

Where: Bonnybridge, Scotland, 1992 onwards

In 1992, local Isabella Sloggett and her daughter claim a UFO lands in front of them – they run off terrified. A local businessman also sees a star-shaped object hovering in the road. Since then an average of 300 sightings are reported annually and include a cigar-shaped craft landing on a golf course in 2004.

WONDER WEDGE

Where: Manchester, January 1995

As he brings his Boeing 747 carrying 60 passengers in to land at Manchester airport, Captain Roger Willis reports the plane has been overtaken at high-speed by a wedge-shaped craft with bright lights.

PLANE CRAZY

Where: Liverpool, September 2015

A Ryanair flight delays its landing after seeing a UFO over the River Mersey, which would never be identified. The local police force has registered scores of sightings including a “large fleet” of unexplained lights in the sky spotted by multiple witnesses in 2008,

VAST SPEEDING OBJECT

Where: Shropshire, March 1993

Military and Met Office personnel at RAF Cosford and RAF Shawbury report a huge triangular-shaped UFO over the bases. It’s described as vast, moving much faster than a jet, with white and red lights and leaving a luminous vapour before disappearing.

GLOWING BOOMERANGS

Where: Wilsthorpe, East Yorkshire, May-September 2009

That summer sees a spate of UFO sightings over the sea, with some linked to car engines malfunctioning. A couple living by the beach report 30-40 glowing boomerang-shaped craft over the coast. Soon afterwards two large RAF helicopters mysteriously land and clear the area.

MYSTERY LIGHTS

Where: Skegness, October 1996

Policemen and civilians describe strange lights hovering over The Wash. Despite being seen on radar for seven hours, documents later showed the RAF were told to do nothing about the reports from “the highest level”.

THE ‘DORITO’

Where: West Midlands, 2008-present

A weird triangular-shaped craft, dubbed the Dudley Dorito, has been spotted regularly since 2008 over the area. Described as “four or five times bigger than a plane” and moving at “mind-boggling speed”, in 2016 teacher Darren Edwards managed to take mobile snaps of it while walking his dog.

MEDIEVAL ENCOUNTER

Where: St Albans, Herts, 1254

A monk writes of a glowing floating light in the sky, saying: “There suddenly appeared in the sky a kind of large ship elegantly shaped, well equipped and of marvellous colour.”

JUMBO BUZZED

Where: Berkshire, July 2013

The pilot of an Airbus 320 flying at 34,000ft, 20 miles from Heathrow, reports seeing a “bright silver rugby ball-shaped” craft hurtling towards his cockpit window – which then vanishes. Bizarrely, neither air traffic control or radar picks up the object.

‘THE THING!’

Where: Warminster, Wilts, 1964-5

Residents begin reporting huge noises, houses shaking, orbs in the sky and a whole flock of pigeons suddenly dying. Over 12 months, 1,000 reports of strange phenomena occur. Mysterious crop circles and strange lights in the sky have been reported ever since.

UFO LANDING

Where: Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, December 1980

US servicemen at an RAF base investigate strange lights in nearby woods, encountering a 3m-tall craft which suddenly disappears. Deputy commander Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt, describes seeing a hovering object and “a beam coming down to the ground.”

WEIRD BEINGS

Where: Broad Haven, Pembrokeshire, February 1977

Pupils from Broad Haven primary school allege seeing a 40ft cigar-shaped UFO land. Two months later a local hotel owner observes an “upside-down saucer” in a field and two “faceless humanoid” creatures. Farmers also spot a 7ft being in a silver suit.

CHOPPER CHASE

Where: Cardiff, south Wales, June 2008

A police helicopter waiting to land at the St Athan MOD base nearly collides with a “saucer-shaped” craft. The chopper gives chase but fails to catch it.

CELEB HOTSPOT

Where: Swansea and Port Talbot, south Wales, January 1983

Dozens of witnesses observe a huge black triangular-shaped craft over the area. Local celeb, movie star Michael Sheen, also saw a UFO there as a kid.

“But I don’t think anyone has told the full story, whether it’s the UK, the US, Russia or China.

“Most UFOs are misidentifications of things such as aircraft lights, satellites and Chinese lanterns, but a small percentage remain unexplained.

“As I always remind people, the sceptics have to be right every time…but the believers only need to be right once!

“I’m sure there’s life ‘out there’ and I keep an open mind about whether or not we’ve been visited. I hope we have been – the world would be more interesting with aliens than without.

“I think it’s only a matter of time before we find alien life – or before it finds us, if it hasn’t already!”
