A "ghost" has been spotted on a restaurant's CCTV camera, leaving the owners scratching their heads.
A camera set up outside an eatery in New Hampshire, US, caught what appears to be a spooky apparition flying past the lens. The bizarre footage was discovered when police were called to The Library Restaurant in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, after its motion alarm was triggered – only to find nobody was there.

Following the incident the restaurant's owners took to Facebook to show what they had seen. "Last night, for the very first time our motion detector alarms INSIDE the building were set off by this camera motion caught on video in the dead of night outside the window," the post explained.
The movement detected at the seemingly empty building was strong enough to trigger a police alarm, which has never happened before, the owners continued. "It is not lights from the car – because you can see how others are picked up and there is no horizontal wind blowing," they pointed out.
"So, what can this be! Make of it what you will but this has never happened before! Spooky coincidence for the time of year?”
Social media users were astounded by the clip but many agreed the unexplained shadow could have appeared from the afterlife. One suggested the spectre could be the Lady in White, an infamous spirit from local lore.

"Some residents had claimed to see her in the hallways," the user wrote. "One wrote a poem about her experience."
It's not the first time locals have reported spooky sightings in the venue – in fact, it is known locally for its apparitions. Located in Old Rockingham House, the building was built in 1785 and became a hotel in 1833 before being converted into a restaurant.
Co-owner of the restaurant Adrienne Waterman told NBC10 Boston she has had many close encounters with the paranormal, having seen things “fall off shelves.” But despite the building's haunting histor, she said she wasn’t convinced by the presence of ghosts. "You can always try and rationalise that type of thing," she said.
Marc Lipoma, the restaurant's executive chef, was also sceptical at the thought of a ghostly visit. He suggested it was nothing to worry about.
"I am not a pretty superstitious or ghost person," he told NBC10 Boston. When asked about the experience, he acted unbothered.
